PRRC’s outreachhas expanded over the years and moremeeting space is needed toaccommodate God’s work. Through ahistoric and ongoing partnership inministry with the Presbyterian churchjust across the parking lot from PRRC,the space needs can be accommodated.Your gifts to the Readiness Fund willhelp fund much-needed upgrades tothe Presbyterian church. Theseupgrades involve installing a workingrestroom in the church and updatingthe kitchen for the Kid’s Time meals. As post-COVID times are on thehorizon, PRRC needs to update theguest rooms at the retreat center. Yourofferings will also help provide newfloors, updated paint and newmattresses. All of these updates will beaccomplished by the Lutheran LakotaJob Corps, an employment ministry thathires local workers in Pine Ridge and ismanaged by PRRC.Visit pineridgereconciliationcenter.orgto learn more about the ministry ofPine Ridge Reconciliation Center.Readiness FundWe introduce three new Readiness Fund projects to begin 2021.We are very excited about each endeavor! Our mission support will go to the Pine Ridge ReconciliationCenter (PRRC), an ELCA ministry located on Pine Ridge Indian Reservationin Pine Ridge, South Dakota. PRRC serves to foster mutual trust, respect andunderstanding, while addressing the deep poverty that exists on the reservation.Sheridan has committed to giving 15,000 to PRRC in order to make capitalimprovements. The plan is to eventually travel there, as both spiritual partnersand workers. PRRC is recognized as a mission of the South Dakota Synod.Pastor Dan Johnson leads the ministry as the Executive Director at PRRC.PRRC is dedicated to being a beacon of light in the community. Each weekday,PRRC distributes coffee, sandwiches, hygiene kits and quilts. Kid’s Time, ledby staff member Nicolas, provides a safe and healthy place for children to be incommunity after school. The Lutheran Lakota Job Corps at the Center offers jobskills training to the unemployed on the reservation. Through the leadershipof staff member Lindsey, PRRC also hosts groups for cultural immersionexperiences. Ministry at PRRC continues with modifications during theseCOVID times. Our renovation project will be with the landscaping of our Sheridan campus.Much of the original landscaping has either died or overgrown the space forwhich it was planted. Still, other areas need new landscaping. Working withlandscape architects from Clarke Enersen Partners in Lincoln will yield acomplete landscape plan, which we will fund over the course of years. Our initialcommitment to getting things started will be 50,000 from the Readiness Fund.Readiness Fund continued on page 3

The life cycle for most tech is usually less than ten years. Oursoundboard is approaching 15 years of age and the majority of our microphonesare older than that. This, along with the introduction of streaming worshiponline, has exposed our need for newer equipment. The list of needs is long, but 50,000 from the Readiness Fund will get the process started. The Readiness Fund began in 2012 when the church became debt-free. It is our“above and beyond” fund which empowers the church to do great things. Wealways have three emphases: mission, renovation and capital improvement. Theapostle Paul writes, “For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable to whatone has.” (2 Cor 8:12) “Eagerness” has also been translated as “readiness.” Whenyour heart is ready, the gift will be right. Are you ready? We are!In-Kind DonationsClinic with a Heart continuallyneeds personal care items suchas shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and body soap. In the midst of so muchchange, Grace Groups have been aconstant for many. Grace Groupsare made up of four peoplethat commit to meet at leasttwice a month for one year, tointentionally build relationshipsand discipleship. Sheridancurrently has 18 Grace Groups, including one new group that wasformed and began meeting duringthe pandemic.Sheridan member, MickeyTuttle, resolved to begin a newGrace Group when she retired. She is grateful her group was able tobe formed during the pandemic and feels they have grown a lot in justfour Zoom meetings. The consensus of the Tuttle Grace Group is thateven though they had to overcome challenges to begin meeting duringsuch a trying time, they are grateful they started. Their group hasallowed them to safely meet new people, to grow deeper in their faiththrough study and to support and encourage each other. Many Grace Groups who have been together for longer periodsof time are also persevering to find ways to meet and grow duringthe pandemic. Jody Simeck has been meeting with her Grace Groupfor eight years. She shared that her Grace Group has been an anchorin her life over the last nine months. The studies her group has takenpart in have helped to strengthen her spiritual connection to Godand her Grace Group has been a source of strength and support. She acknowledged that meeting over Zoom was challenging in thebeginning, but now has become a life-line for their Grace Group. These personal stories help to affirm that in our hectic modernday world, Grace Groups can offer a pause that refreshes throughscripture reading, prayer, meditation, and inspirational reading.Grace Groups offer time and space to grow in grace, loving andsharing friendships in Christ. New Grace Groups are alwaysforming. If you are feeling called to take part in this small groupministry, contact Pastor Eric or Julie Hestermann.Submit Your God SightingWe try to highlight a member of our Sheridan community who hasmade God’s love and grace come clearly into sight.
