She earned a bachelor’sdegree in elementary education in1975 and a master’s in curriculum andinstruction in 1985 from UTEP. She alsoreceived a doctoral degree in educationadministration and managementfrom New Mexico State University.“My UTEP education afforded menot only a work-study position butalso wonderful professors who werementors, and through my educationI gained a higher quality of lifeprofessionally and personally,” saidEnriquez, who has three children withher late husband and high schoolLa Dra. Even then, education remaineda priority, with Enríquez taking classes atEast L.A. Junior College while working.Returning to El Paso in the late 1960s,Enríquez earned a B.A. in art from UTEPin 1970 while still working full time.“When my late wife and I moved backto our hometown, she encouraged meto pursue my lifelong dream: a careerin visual arts,” Enríquez said. “For me,the best way to achieve that goal wasto continue my art education.
