You will take home ahead full of information that will serve you down the roadon your journey of art. The only prerequisite is that youhave painted several paintings in the last 6 months andthat you have a desire to learn. This workshop begins onTuesday. In the mid-1980s, he decided to follow hislong-standing fascination with watercolor painting andlater began selling art supplies in the drugstore. Now,Cheap Joe’s is a world renowned mail order and internet art supply business, with three retail stores in NorthCarolina. Joe is an award winning artist and nationallyknown art instructor. In 2006, he received the prestigious Dolphin Medal of the American Watercolor Societydesignated for persons making outstanding contributions to watercolor and to art in general. Janet has demonstrated extensively for various groups and exhibitions across the country. She hasbeen featured in four instructional DVDs, filmed by ArtistPalette Productions. She has been featured in AmericanArtist Magazine, as well as in other publications, and wasfeatured in The One Hour Watercolorist. Janet also hasmany demos available to watch on YouTube.This workshop is designed to inspire your creativityby learning to “see” and experience different aspectsof color theory; learning to “see” and interpret light byexploring different design concepts; and to experienceand understand the power of planning. This course willinspire advanced beginners and provide a review andchallenge for the advanced student. You will also experience how Sue creates and designs her imagery inorder to achieve a strong quality of light. A one on oneconsultation time will be available to discuss your objectives and goals. Our main objective is the planning anddesigning of your paintings; finished paintings will notbe our priority. She was a juror of awards for the American Watercolor Society in 2013, and she produced an instructionalDVD, “Commanding Color”. Sue belongs to the Watercolor USA Honor Society, the Rocky Mountain NationalWatermedia Honor Society, and is a signature memberof the Florida Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the National Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society. Sue’s paintings hang in many museums and corporate collectionsnationally.In this workshop you will design and create your ownunique watercolor journals. There is something so satisfying about sketching and painting in a journal you handcrafted yourself. This class is perfect for those who havenever made a journal. You will begin by designing andpainting the paper for the journal covers. Next, you willlearn to hand tear your paper in order to have beautifuldeckled edges on the pages. This will give your journal much more character than a perfect machine madejournal. After punching the holes in your pages, you willlearn three different stitches and finish two hand sewn8" x 10" journals and one 5" x 6" accordion journal. Thejournals will be open spine journals with beautiful decorative stitching embellishing the spine. The instructorwill provide a very generous handout with step-by-stepinstructions.Annie loves creating anything with watercolor: studiopaintings, pen and ink sketches, and batiks. She holdsactive memberships in the Watercolor Society of NorthCarolina, High Country Watermedia Society, CabarrusArt Guild, and the Mooresville Art Guild. Her award winning art has been exhibited in many North Carolina juriedexhibitions, judged shows and galleries. Currently youcan find Annie’s art at these North Carolina venues: TheBilly Graham Library, The Billy Graham Training Center,and The Guild Gallery in Concord. In addition to exhibiting and selling her art, she enjoys teaching workshopsin watercolor painting, sketchbook journaling, color mixing, watercolor batik, and book-binding.
