Page 3 of 8Masonic EducationMenifee Valley Lodge– “Christian esotericism”By Charlie HaselwoodThe short article to follow is a basic lesson in the esoteric, particularly Christian esotericism. Now, I know theseviews are shared by the minority of our ancient and honorable fraternity. But, I think it is valuable information forbrothers with the peculiar curiosity to venture deep within and look inside themselves for meaning lost to thefather of time. Sometimes depicted as Kronos. At others, personified as a Bearded Man, carrying a Scythe andHourglass. I did not write this article, but it was posted on some various social media groups. I find it fascinatingand deeply interesting and I hope all of my brothers will give it the focus that it so desires.Want a basic lesson in Esoteric Christianity?Jesus had 12 followers, symbolizing the constellations. By referring to himself as the "Son of God" and "thelight," Jesus was symbolically referring to himself as the literal sun. He was taken and crucified between twothieves on the hill of Golgatha at the age of 33.The two thieves symbolize the left and right hemispheres of the brain, which in itself is symbolizing the HermeticLaw of Polarity. Golgatha literally translates into "skull" or "place of the skull," while the two thieves (polarity) are"thieves" because they "steal" the unification of polarity and prevent it from becoming one.One side is the spiritual side, the other is the physical (Ego). The Higher-Self is the "Christ." One thief, thespiritual, accepts the "Christ," while the physical thief, Ego, mocks and denies him because the Ego does notwant to be "saved" as it does not want to "die." Christ, Higher-Self, being in the middle symbolizes the PinealGland of the brain, acting as the bridge ("the cross") between the two.33 is the number of spinal vertebrae, which in Kabbalah symbolizes the 33 steps one takes to reach Keter, thedwelling place of God, which is also known as the Crown and symbolized as the skull on the human body.Satan's "fall" is referring to the lower level of consciousness, symbolized as the lowest vertebrae at the spine inthe Kabbalah.By being "crucified," Christ, aka the Higher-Self ("anointed"), is able to unify the polarity of an individual and givethem eternal life. The wooden cross symbolizes ignorance, the crowd symbolizes the Demiurge (Jehova), bothof which hate Truth and bound (or nail) one to suffering. To place Christ on the cross is to place the Higher-Selfon ignorance, meaning to keep the Ego ignorant of its existence. The resurrection taking 3 days to occur is another numerological symbol, as 3 in Kabbalah is a number thatunifies two opposites or opposing forces. Thus, by rising on the 3rd day, life and death are no longer oppositesbut one. It also represents a reversed process of life. Instead of birth, life, and then death; it becomes death, rebirth, and life. This was all common knowledge at one time, however with the rise of the Catholic Church via Constantine, thisknowledge became oppressed and the true meaning of the death and resurrection of Christ became lost to themasses, with exception for a few small sects that went hiding, later called the Gnostics. One of these sectswould become known today as the Rosicrucians, who were originally the Essene Jewish sect (the same sectJesus and his family belonged to).The ultimate message of this is to find one's Higher-Self, the Christ within, and let it unify your spiritual side andphysical side. Otherwise one is ruled by Ego, the lower-self, and will die by Ego. The Higher-Self, on the otherhand, gives eternal life because it cannot die in the first place. You are a spiritual being having a physicalexperience, while the Ego tells you it's the other way around, or that there is no spiritual aspect at all.A beautiful system of Morality, veiled in Allegory, illustrated by Symbols
