Over the years I have learned notto force projects before their time, but to trust in theirunfolding and in the Divine orchestration encouragingtheir fruition. When the time was ideal for this thirdedition to be born, its writing felt inspired, and the hoursinvolved were bliss-filled experiences. I actually beganto crave my writing time and the excitement about whatwas unfolding. As I write the third edition notes, one ofmy final tasks in completing this book, I feel sadknowing the project is almost finished but also excitedto share it with you.This third edition includes updated remedy listsand descriptions as well as an updated sample protocol.Several chapters have been expanded with greaterclarification and explanation. Years ago I had hada thoracotomy for a benign tumor. The scar tissue left atightness that had plagued me for almost 30 years. WhenI hugged someone it hurt. There were positions in Yogathat I couldn't do on the left side. But mainly, I couldn'treally take a deep breath without feeling it. The most recent one wason her left arm and elbow. These sores were bloody andinvolved hair loss. She licked and licked them. Theywere a mess! I have treated herwith several other brands of remedies as well for relatedrheumatoid arthritis and other issues, with little if anyresults. She has had chiropractic care for a dislocatedhip and three dislocated ribs. When Stephen arrived at herhouse in Denver, he found a huge pile of mail on herfront porch, a dark house and no answer at the door. Hewent around the back of the house to take a look, therediscovering in a corner room window a large black dog18

www.heal-thyself.tvinside the house. A doggy door in the patio slider was afew feet from the dog. Stephen had not met this dog inperson but he had worked with her for several monthslong-distance. Time seemed to stop as the large dogstood up, ran toward the doggy door and out into theyard in Stephen’s direction.Quickly scanning every conversation he had hadwith his client regarding this dog, trying to remember ifshe was friendly, all he could recall was that she washaving a great deal of difficulty ambulating, was almostblind, very lethargic, had a history of physical abuse andtraumata, and was 16-years-old. As this dog cametearing across the large yard toward him he keptthinking that there must be two dogs. Since it wasunlikely that he could outrun this dog, Stephen decided“friendly dog,” crouched down, and called her name in afriendly voice as she barreled over to him. The doglicked his face, picked up a ball and dropped it in frontof him, requesting a game of fetch. Stephen checked hertags and, sure enough, it was the dog he had beenworking with long distance. Her eyes were crystal-clear,and she was running like a puppy, unafraid of him, withno sign of sores anywhere as well as seemingly pain-freewhen petted. She was the healthiest 16-year-old dog hehad ever met.19

www.heal-thyself.tvHe threw the ball several times and beganlooking for her owner. With no sign of her, Stephencalled 911. The police broke into the house andsubsequently found out that she had been killed in a caraccident 10 days earlier. Stephen decided to take thisdog home, as he felt she had been traumatized enoughand probably wouldn’t do well at the animal controlcenter. He also believed a 16-year-old dog’s chance ofbeing adopted was small. Stephen and Valeriewelcomed this dog into their home, and, after one day, itfelt as if she had lived with them forever. This dog andStephen experienced a special bond and a fantasticfriendship. Stephen and Valerie both are very grateful tothis client, her dog and for the opportunity to participatein what seemed to be the work of a loving Creator.Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into theunknown, and you will step into the field of allpossibilities.Deepak Chopra20
