An Unwavering Commitment to Greatness!BAN THE AVERAGE! These words waken a passion in us to develop a new vision ofeducational excellence. A vision that is focused on developing independent learnersthrough guided inquiries facilitated by passionate educators. Our belief is that there is no such thing as an average student. In our system, studentsare empowered to utilize critical thinking skills, problem solving strategies, andcollaborate with peers to construct solutions for real-world applications. Designingsuch a system starts with being trusted, a commitment to excellence, and caring aboutstakeholders as individuals. It continues with the creation of boundaries that allowfor flexibility, innovation, and creativity, all the while ensuring the focus remains onthe objective of academic excellence. The priority must be to create a true environment of collaboration between allstakeholders, but most importantly between a facilitator and their students. It isimperative that students' own voices are integrated into everyday learningexperiences in order to find the joy in learning. Finally, the system must produceresults to build credibility and sustainability.I am excited to join AFIA for the challenge of being truly innovative and theopportunity to increase the capacity for human greatness. Together, we will BAN THEAVERAGE in education!Within this booklet you will find the Handbook and Code of Conduct. They are thepolicies, rules, consequences and procedures that you will be expected to follow. Please read them carefully and familiarize yourself with the information. Please feel free to call or email us at any time.Sincerely,Justin Johnston Head of School
