Parent NewsletterDear Fellow Lions:The following students from Liberty High School received national recognition from theCollege Board for demonstrating outstanding college-level achievement throughAdvanced Placement courses and exams.Students taking Advanced Placement classes are provided with a rigorous, college-levelcurriculum. Those passing the national exams at the end of the year earn college creditfor the courses taken.The designation of AP Scholar is awarded to those students passing three or morefull-year AP exams with a score of 3 (out of a possible 5) or higher. AP Scholars withHonor are those students who pass four or more full-year AP exams with an averagescore of 3.25. AP Scholars with Distinction are those students who pass five or more full-year exams with an average score of 3.5.The highest honor bestowed upon a student is National AP Scholar. In order to receivethis award, students must pass eight or more exams, all with a score of 4 or 5. Thisyear, both Zoe Flores and James Galbraith were named National AP Scholars.In 2014, 60 students received recognition from the College Board. In 2015, 84 studentsearned this honor. This year, 104 students achieved this award. A total of 507 AP exams were passed out of 957 administered last spring.Liberty High School continues to be characterized by outstanding academic achievement, excellence in extra-curricular activities and preparation for success in the 21 stcentury.With Lion Pride,Patrick M.
