Why Take An AP Course?Academically challenging Rigorous learning opportunitiesNationally recognized guidelines for curriculum and assessmentCollege admission Many colleges and universities recognize the rigor of AP classes intheir applicantsGPA- 6 point scaleAP can help students get ahead in collegeScore a 3 or higher on AP exam, class grade adjusted to an A (WOHSonly)**All classes on WOHS Campus

Frequent Concerns With TakingAn AP Course I don’t think I will pass (or score high enough) on the APexam to get college credit. You don’t need to score a 5, many colleges grant credit, orplacement, with a score of a 3.Taking AP classes could hurt my GPA. Your decision to take an AP course shows admissions officers that youare willing to take on the academic challenge of college-levelcoursework and expectations. Remember that quarterly grades do not count towards GPA.

AP versus Dual Enrollment* There is no right or wrong, better or worse* Colleges are looking for well-rounded students thatchallenge themselves in their coursework- thisincludes AP and DE courses* Much consideration should be given to where youwant to end up*Out of State or In-State?

Supports For AP Students At WOHS Tutoring after school on Tuesdays and Thursdaysfor all subjects in the cafeteria. Many AP teachers offer tutoring on their own- askyour teacher. Review sessions prior to testing in May
