Identify proper CPR compressions and breathing.Identify severe bleeding and the proper procedure to control external bleeding.Identify how to properly immobilize different injuries to the extremities.Instructional TechniquesStudents will read their chapters in the current textbook, which is required. Notes will beposted for various chapters by the instructor. PowerPoint presentations may beavailable to be viewed which include videos and information from each chapter. Sincethe videos are embedded in the PowerPoints, depending on the student’s Internetconnection, these may take a while to download. Students will participate in variousdiscussion boards that are related to the information that is presented. Internet searchesmay be used for extra credit assignments.Methods of EvaluationStudents will be evaluated though quizzes from the textbook, discussion boards, and atleast one proctored test. Extra credit assignments which may include Internet searcheswill also be included during the semester.

It is the student’s responsibility to schedule all proctored test, especially in atimely manner. Failing to schedule your proctored test during the testing period is not anexcuse to miss the exam. A proctored test is an exam in which the student must go to atesting center and present proper identification. Students need to log intoSmarterProctoring to schedule the proctored tests. No notes, books or other aids maybe used for the proctored test. Proctored tests are open for at least 5 days so noextensions will be allowed.Academic HonestyScholastic dishonesty will not be tolerated. You are expected to complete all work forthis course on your own. Pagers, cell phones, and other electronic devices will not beallowed in any of the testing centers. If any electronic device is brought out during aproctored test the student will receive a grade of a zero and be asked to leave. Any

questions regarding this policy should be discussed with the instructor. The student isexpected to do his or her own work for all assignments.AttendanceAttendance in a distance learning class means logging on regularly basis to the coursesite as directed by the instructor. However, just logging into the Canvas site does notconstitute attendance—submission of assignments determines attendance.Assignments should be submitted well before the deadlines. This instructor has theright to drop an excessively absent student from class at any time during the semesterbefore the withdrawal date. The student should check announcements, deadlines, ande-mails on the Canvas site several times per week, even if deadlines are met. Newinformation or extra credit assignments may be posted in between deadlines. Missingany combination of two assignments, quizzes or proctored test over the course ofthe semester will result in being dropped from the course. The ID cardmust be worn on the person above the waist, which means it cannot be on a purse, book bag, etc. Individuals without an ID cardin plain view will be stopped to verify their status as a student, staff, or authorized visitor. Displaying of the ID is also requiredfor use of the MCC library and most other services and activities.
