But the books areaimed at children aged 6 to 10.WHAT TO DO IN ADVANCE: Get your equipment together (see list on the right) Promote your event (see tips below) Do any preparations - younger children may not bevery good at making the puppet or chains so makea few templates in advance for them to useHOW TO HOST YOUR EVENT:It’s up to you how you run your event. Here are somesuggestions:RUN ALL FOUR ACTIVITIES INA BOREDOM BUSTING ZONE Give out the booklets. Ask the children to hold ontothem throughout the event Have four tables (or three as you can do both theStar Wars activities together)EVENTEQUIPMENT NEEDED Scissors Coloured paper (try to get black, red, yellow and white)CardDouble sided tapeGluePencilsColouring pencils/pensSmall white dot stickersPennies or something small and roundto draw aroundItems for decoration: stickers, wool for hair oranything you can find!!SAFETYYou do need scissors for two ofthe four activities so just make sureyou have child-friendly ones or askparents to help with cutting Have the equipment you need for each activity oneach table (see the full equipment list for each activity)WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DOON THE DAY? Once the child has completed the activity they canget a tick in the box on the front of their booklet andmove onThe books have lots of ideas in them but here are a fewwhich you can easily do.RUN JUST ONE ACTIVITY You could run one activity (although the spot thedifference is really a bonus activity so run thatalongside the Star Wars Charades one) All the activities particularly the two craft ones cango on for as long as the children like as they need todo colouring sticking and general craftingHOW TO PROMOTE ANDPUBLICISE YOUR EVENT?You know your local area better than anyone. But firstmake sure you put the event poster up in your library,school or bookshop. Promote it via social media,local papers and events listing and through staff.Tell everyone!CREATE YOUR OWN CRAZY GOLF COURSEYou can make plant pot bridges by placing two plantpots slightly apart from each other then place a bookon top. Then you can ask children to try to knock a pingpong ball under it. You can make a simple golf clubfrom cardboard and a stick.CREATE YOUR OWN CLUBHOUSEEveryone can design their own membership card tobe part of the boredom buster club!PLAY A COMBINATIONCREATURE GAMEEach person takes a pieceof paper and folds it intofour sections. They draw ahead in the top section, fold itbackward to hide the head, andpass the paper to the next person.Repeat this with the waist andarms, hips and knees and feed.Then unfold it at the end to seewhat’s been created!

PUPPET MAKINGYOU WILL NEEDThere are plenty of fun ways you can make puppets.Once you’ve made a few, it’s time to put on a show.Construct a makeshift theatre, gather your audience,and put on an unforgettable performance!With a bit of card and some imagination you can makeall sorts of cool puppets. Cut holes in the bottom anduse your fingers as legs!DESIGN YOUR OWN PUPPET Pencils Pennies or something smalland round to draw around Card Pens/colouring pencils Items to decorate your puppeteg wool, stickers, and felt Scissors - make sure you askan adult to help you use thescissors and do any cuttingMAKE A UNICORN ORROBOT PUPPET1.Get some card and simply draw a box orrectangle (as big or small as you want)1.2.Draw two circles using a penny or anotherround object - these are for your puppets legs;it doesn’t have to be 2 legsCut out the unicorn or robot templatefrom the template sheet2.Draw the outline of your puppet - is it aprincess?
