We celebrate this event very traditionally. In this eventwe provide platform to our beloved children so that they can be introduced as our future leader. At the same time, we create the full devotional environment sothat all our respected devotees can pay their full respects and prayer to Maa Saraswati and enjoy the pujaenvironment like every other event. We involve our children to arrange this puja for two reasons. First, this is our “Sonaton” tradition. Also thechildren should realize that we celebrate “Saraswati Puja” mainly for their own success in life. Second, weneed to create new leadership to pass the torch. To keep everyone involved and engaged, we usually organize this event in such a way that meets the necessityof every age and every member of the community. We value and optimize the mythological aspects, religiousemotions as well as community engagement according to our devotee’s requirement. We arrange frequent“Pushpanjoli” for our devotees, competitions for our children, cultural program for all and many more. Those who are in the Saraswati Puja Celebration Committee 2019 and taking active roles in organizing this Pujaon Saturday, February 09, 2019, you already experienced that organizing, managing and successfully completingthis event is full of challenges. mi Zx c Rv msL v-2019Hindu Temple in Relation to Human DignityNani Gopal Debnath, P. EnggHuman rights and Democracy are ongoingconsultation in today’s world. For that matterthe first Article of the Universal Declaration ofHuman Rights (1948) that urge to do somethinglike:Vedic and Upanishadic literature aboundsin ideas that proclaim universal oneness anduniversal well-being. Hinduism is the essenceof all that wisdom handed down to generationsafter generations. These ideas have shaped& guided the Hindu socio-religious life forcenturies.“All human beings are born free and equal indignity and rights. They are gifted with reasonand conscience and should act towards oneanother in a spirit of brotherhood”.In the light of above now let us discuss, howHindu Temple related to Human Dignity or ina Temple we should do such activities whichupheld and teach Humanity.I was born in 1948, and when became adultcame to know about the above declaration ofHuman Rights, naturally took interest to knowmore regarding thisdeclaration due to mybirth year coincideswith such a greatevent. One day in a Temple one of my friend askedme, God is omnipresent, we can pray at home, than why I have visitedthe temple for prayer? As a personal opinion,I have mentioned thattemple is a place ofprayer and generallyafter prayer priestor some religiousscholarsdiscussabout our foundationof vedic way of lifewhere many a time Ihave heard such words “they say that we prayfor well being of all human being, anybody neversays well being only for the Hindus”. This signifythat in our Temple we pray for Humanity, whichto me is in the root of Hinduism. So I experienceHuman Dignity while I visit a Temple.Again when I grewolder slowly cametogether with religiousteachings of Hindutradition, culture andrituals because offamily or communitybackground. Thus one day surprisingly readsome religious texts which were as follows:“No one is superior or inferior; all arebrothers; all should strive for the interest of alland progress collectively”, some text translationfrom RigVeda. The following other informationenlightenment can elaborate:The RigVeda is the first of the four Vedasand is considered the essence of all knowledge,Jnana. In fact the Vedas highlight the classiconeness of the entire creation.andA temple is a structure reserved for religiousor spiritual rituals and activities such as prayerand sacrifice.Immediately it emerged in my mind whatI read in Human Rights declaration 1948,appeared analogous.Prayer: Hinduism has incorporated manykinds of prayer (Sanskrit: prarthana), fromfire-based rituals to philosophical reflection ofthoughts. While chanting involves general truth, recitation of timeless verses or verses withtimings and notations, nature involves sometime deep meditation (however short or long). In fact the Vedas emphasized these athousand years back for the entire humanitywhich today’s world aggressively trying toimplement after 1948 Human Rights declaration.13

mi Zx c Rv msL v-2019in the direction of a higher fulfillment. Sacrificeof Work is greatest as it culminates divineknowledge. The sacrifice of knowledge is greaterthan material possessions. Sacrifice is an Art.It can be simply plain formless meditation aspracticed by the ancient sages. These prayerscan be directed to fulfilling personal needs ordeep spiritual enlightenment, and also for thebenefit of others. We can learn the art of Sacrifice with bonafidespiritual master who follows this art and notmerely teaches them. Such self realized soulcan teach the art of sacrifice to us and impartknowledge to us because he has seen truth byhis practice. The teacher who just preaches anddoes not follow this art is only a Pretender andmust be avoided.Rituals are part and parcel of the Vedicreligion and as such permeated their sacredtexts. Indeed, the highest sacred texts of theHindus, the Vedas, are a large collection ofmantras and prayer.Prayer can be incorporated into a daily“thought life”, in which one is in constantcommunication with a god. Some people praythroughout all that is happening during the dayand seek guidance as the day progresses. In the middle of the fourth chapter of theGita, certain instructions are given on theperformance of different kinds of sacrifice. Theword sacrifice is a very significant one throughoutthe Bhagavadgita, perhaps through most of thescriptures in our ancient history, indicating thatthe principle of life consists in sacrifice of somesort or the other. Every moment of our life isa sacrifice that we perform in the direction ofa higher fulfillment. It is difficult to understandthe meaning of sacrifice, and a knowledge ofit is absolutely necessary to understand theteachings of the Bhagavadgita. The wholeof karma yoga, or any yoga for the matter ofthat, is centred round this principle governingall life and existence, the principle of sacrifice. The yoga, the sacrifice, which is control of thesenses, restraint of the mind, and the stabilizingof the reasoning process. All these suggest asingle action on the part of our consciousness, namely an awakening into a higher Self. Some outward acts that sometimesaccompany prayer are: ringing a bell, burningincense, lighting a candle and facing a specificdirection. One less noticeable act related toprayer is fasting. Anthropologically, the conceptof prayer is closely related to that of surrenderand earnestly appeal.Sacrifice: Sacrifice generally we understandis the offering of food, objects or artifacts . Butthe Vedic view of sacrifice is about maintainingbalance in the greater Universe, restoring thedivine to continuously create the World anew.Vishnu tells Arjuna in the Bhagavad GitaIn Vedic tradition the performance ofsacrifice takes on a Universal importance. It isvital to the continuation of the universe, sincethrough the destruction of the material offering, body is returned to the material universe, thesoul is redeemed into the World Soul, and thespiritual essence is likewise returned to itsspiritual origin. In this way too, the cycle of lifefrom birth to death in to rebirth is maintainedfor all animate and inanimate things. In practicesacrifice was offered to God, the creature withwhom we share our world. In this way sacrificebecomes an act of procreation. If we look at the essence of humanity and theHindu way of life can be judged from a differentperspective and angle. The eternal truth is thatall human beings follow a natural way of lifesubject to their traditions, history, and culture. The ancient culture and traditions Hindus followwhich has been explained by great sages andfound in texts of Veda & Upanishad are nothingbut Hindu way of life. Here religion or Dharmameans the natural characteristics of a humanbeing which Hinduism promotes, the vi
