The study was conducted on a sample of 391secondary school students studying in government and private schools of Jammu district. SelfEsteem Inventory prepared by M.S. Prasad and G.P. Thakur (1977) was used to collect data. Thecollected data was analyzed with the help of Pearson product moment correlation (r).The resultsof the study showed that positive and significant correlation was found between positive selfesteem and academic achievement of secondary school students. A positive and significantcorrelation was found between positive self males with their academic achievement. A positiveand significant correlation was found between negative self females and academic achievement.A positive but not significant correlation was found between positive self females with theiracademic achievement.
