Information about the heater 72.7FunctionHow the water heater works: Water comes in through the cold water inlet. Depending on the region of the country, the temperature ofthe water supply can vary between 40 F in winter to 70 Fin summer, with an average of 50 F.The heater is designed for cold water supplyonly. Do not supply with pre-heated water. The flow switch senses how much water is passing throughthe unit. If it detects more than the preset level, the unit’sheating elements switch on. This is shown by the neon lightglowing. The water is heated instantly as it passes through thecopper heat exchanger tube. The temperature of the water coming out of the unit dependson: The voltage of the electrical supply, The temperature of the incoming water supply, The setting of the power selector, The flow rate, The power rating of the unit.Fig. 3[A] Manual reset thermal cut outThe table below shows the rise in water temperature you canexpect from the unit:ModelVoltsElementAmps ResistanceHighSettingLow SettingTemperature Rise (deg F) at Flow Rate 2x12 9,5kW-NA84F64F42F32FNAUS9240201x12 -4,75kWNA42F32F21F16FNAUS9208352x12 7,1kW-NA64F48F32F24FNAUS9208181x12 -3,5kWNA32F24F16F12FNAUS6277222x25 6,0kW-81F55F42F27FNANAUS6277111x25 -3,0kW41F28F21F14FNANAUS3120-110272x8 3,4-3,0kW-41F28F20FNANANAUS7240-220302x16 7,2-6,1kW-NA63F48F32F24FNAUS7240-220151x16 -3,6- 3,05kWNA32F24F16F12FNATable 4Manual reset thermal cut-outThe unit has a thermal cut-out ( Fig. 1 ) which is mounted onthe heat exchanger tube. Installation 94.1.1 Freeze preventionWARNING: ELECTRICITY IS EXTREMELYDANGEROUS. TAKE EXTRAPRECAUTIONS AND ENSURE ALLCIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE OFF BEFOREPERFORMING ANY WORK TO THEHEATER.IntroductionPlease note that the installation manual states that the waterheater must not be installed in a location where it may beexposed to freezing temperatures. If the heater must be left ina space that is likely to experience freezing temperatures, allwater must be drained from the heater.Freeze damage is not covered under the warranty.Use of agents like anti-freeze are not allowedas they may cause damage to the waterheater’s internal components.Draining the heaterDue to the shape of the heat exchangers and connecting pipe,it is extremely difficult to get all of the water out of the heater.Follow the procedure below to best minimize the chance offreezing: Disconnect electric supply. Disconnect cold and hot water pipes from fittings onbottom of heater. Allow water to drain out (have a catchbasin ready). After allowing all water to drain out, the heater should beblown out with low pressure compressed air to remove asmuch water as possible from water heater modules. Burstsof air work better than continuous flow.Remember, these suggestions are only made to help minimizethe potential for freeze damage and are not to be construed asthe guaranteed method for dealing with freeze possibilities.4.2Installing the Tronic 3000C ProWARNING: Do not install the Tronic 3000C Pro in aroom where there is a chance offreezing.TRONIC 3000C ProNOTICE: Read entire instructions. Check the pressure of the main watersupply. To operate correctly the unit needs the following runningpressures:Sink Min: 10 psi (0,7 bar) Max: 150 psi (10,3 bar)4.3Water connections The unit should be connected directly to the main coldwater supply and not to pre- heated water. The unit shouldbe installed with service valves on both the inlet and outlet. These valves can be used to turn off the water supply to theunit if it needs servicing, or to reduce the water flow if it istoo high. We recommend that you use ½" copper or high pressureflex connections. Use Teflon tape for sealing pipe threads. Do NOT use pipedope. Remember to keep the hot water pipe runs as short aspossible. In some cases it may be worth fitting a secondunit to serve an additional fixture. The inlet and outlet are clearly marked on the unit. Theyeach have a ½" NPT connector. If the unit is to supply a sink, we recommend that you useaerators, which you can get from your local distributor/dealer. If the unit is to supply more than one sink, the aeratorshould be the same at each tap if they are to be used at thesame time. If not, one outlet will take all the water. After the unit has been plumbed in, and before you wire it,flush it with water to remove any debris or loose particles.Failure to do so may make the unit inoperable. As a condition of installing this product in theCommonwealth of Massachusetts apressure relief valve must be installed on thecold water side by a licensed plumber. Troubleshooting 13 Check that the power is switched on at the circuit breakerpanel. Turn on the hot tap FULLY.If you do not turn the tap full on, you will find that thetemperature of the water may vary. The hot watertemperature can then be set by adjusting the flow.If the unit has been used recently: run the water through for a few seconds to let thetemperature settle down.If the unit has been used recently, You may initially get ashort burst of very hot water from the unit.If a second tap connected to the unit is also turned on, the hotwater will be shared between the two, therefore the flow and/or the temperature of the water will decrease.5.26TroubleshootingWARNING: Always switch off the electricitysupply to the unit before you remove thecover. If the problem persists:The person who initially installed the unit is probably the bestone to contact for help. You can also call BoschThermotechnology Corporation at 603-552-1100 or visitwww.bosch-climate.us. Please have this guide with you whenyou call.Adjusting the flowChecking for leaks Ensure the service valves are open and check that no pipejoints leak. Turn on the hot tap fully at the sink. Adjust the outlet service valve until the water comes out ofthe tap at the required temperature, (increase flow forcooler, decrease for hotter). Refer to Table 4 , page 7for expected temperature rise at given flow rates. Check that the unit works correctly when the sink tap isclosed and then opened again; if not adjust the servicevalve slightly. The inlet service valve should not be used to regulatetemperature. When using the hot water at a fixture, opentap fully. To regulate hot water temperature, adjust water flow accordingly as directed inSection 5.2.NOTICE:If the unit is servicing a single lever faucetyou may need to restrict the cold watersupply to the faucet to balance waterpressure and improve performance.NOTICE: Before leaving the site, the installershould demonstrate the unit to the userand give him/her this guide.TRONIC 3000C Pro6 720 647 005 (2014/04)
