We aim to direct and coordinate the efforts of association programs and clubs, fostering sportsmanship and goodwill. We place an emphasis on promoting the best interests oflacrosse student athletes in a manner consistent with the MHSAA and US Lacrosse practices and standards.The executive committee consists of the following positions. Dwyane Mason President, Kate Twichell Treasurer, Summer Aldred Vice President, VickyYoung Past President, Marv Hardy Secretary700 ALL STATE AWARDSNew information in red.700.10 Criteria for All State Player nomination:Only players on a MWLCA school/club in good standing are eligible for All State nominationOnly performances during MHSAA Spring Season count toward stats700.20 All State nominations must be submitted to the secretary by the Friday prior to the end of season meeting.Nominations can be submitted through mwlca.com or by downloading the form and emailing700.30 There will be an All-State 1st Team, 2nd Team and Honorable Mentions for both MHSAA Division I and II.Each Division will nominate:2 goalies, 4 defense, 8 attack/midfield players for first team.2 goalies, 4 defense, 8 attack/midfield players for second team.Each MWLCA school/club in good standing will have 18 votes. They will vote for 2 goalies, 4 defense, 8 attack/midfield and will have 4 at largevotes.The top 2 goalies will get 1st Team, the next 2 will get 2nd team.The top 4 defense will get 1st Team, the next 4 will get 2nd team.The top 8 attack/midfield will get 1st Team, the next 8 will get 2nd team.Up to 16 players can be kept on 1st or 2nd teams if ties cannot be broken after 3 votes per Executive Committee approval.The next 28 highest vote getters will earn All State Honorable Mention. Charlie found histrue home at Jackson High School. From1966 - 2003 he passionately served as theViking's Cross Country and Track andField coach. A Celebration of Life servicewill be held June 12, 2022, at 2 pm atJackson High School.Carl Wayne Arkema May 5, 1947 December 24, 2021 Carl began histeaching career in DeMotte, Indiana,teaching there for 17 years. In 1986 Carland his family moved to Muskegon,Michigan, where he took a teachingposition at Western Michigan ChristianHigh School. There he spent 20 yearsas Educator and Athletic Director. A maximum of ten (10) yearsmay be allowed for coaching at the collegiate level.· To receive a general coaching certificate the candidate must have been coaching at least one sport per year at any level for therequested number of years.· To receive specific certificates for a single sport the candidate must qualify for the specified number of years in that sport. Thiscan be at any level. You cannot however count more than one level or season for a sport in any one year. For example, coachingboth boys and girls basketball during the same school year counts as “1” year; coaching both 7th grade boys and JV boys duringthe same school year counts as “1” year.Awards for 30 years and more will have the sports that the candidate coached listed on the plaque.
