TM 11-5820-759-20PSECTION IINTRODUCTION1.ScopeThis manual lists repair parts required for performance oforganizational maintenance of the AN/GRC-165.2.GeneralThis Repair Parts and Special Tools List is divided intothe following sections:a.Section II. Repair Parts List. A list of repair partsauthorized for use in the performance of maintenance.The list also includes parts which must be removed forreplacement of the authorized parts. Parts lists arecomposed of functional groups in ascending numericalsequence, with the parts in each group listed in figureand item number sequence.b.Section III. Special Tools List. Not applicable.c.Section IV. National Stock Number and PartNumber Index. A list, in National item identificationnumber (NIIN) sequence, of all National stock numbers(NSN) appearing in the listings, followed by a list, inalphanumeric sequence, of all part numbers appearing inthe listings. National stock numbers and part numbersare cross-referenced to each illustration figure and itemnumber appearance.3.Explanation of ColumnsThe following provides an explanation of columns foundin the tabular listings: a. Illustration. This column isdivided as follows:(1) Figure number. Indicates the figure numberof the illustration in which the item is shown.(2) Item number. The number used to identifyeach item called out in the illustration. b. Source,Maintenance, and Recoverability Codes (SMR).(1) Source code. Source codes are assigned tosup- port items to indicate the manner of acquiringsupport items for maintenance, repair, or overhaul of enditems. Source codes are entered in the first and secondpositions of the Uniform SMR Code format as follows:CodeDefinitionPA--Item procured and stocked for anticipated or knownusage.PB- Item procured and stocked for insurance purposebecause essentiality dictates that a minimumquantity be available in the supply system.XD-A support item which is not stocked. When required,item will be procured through normal supplychannels. PD- Support item, excluding supportequipment,CodeDefinitioncured for initial issue or outfitting and stocked onlyfor subsquent or additional initial issues oroutfittings. Not subject to automatic re- plenishment.(2) Maintenance code. Maintenance codes areas- signed to indicate the levels of maintenanceauthorized to USE and REPAIR support items. Themaintenance codes are entered in the third and fourthpositions of the Uniform SMR Code format as follows:(a)The maintenance code entered in the thirdposition will indicate the lowest maintenance levelauthorized to remove, replace, and use the support item.The maintenance code entered in the third position willindicate one of the following levels of maintenance:CodeApplication/ExplanationC-Crew or operator maintenance performed withinorganizational maintenance.O-- Support item is removed, replaced, used at theorganizational level.(b)The maintenance code entered in the fourthposition indicates whether the item is to be repaired andidentifies the lowest maintenance level with the capabilityto perform complete repair (i.e., all authorizedmaintenance functions). This position will contain one ofthe following maintenance codes:CodeApplication/ExplanationF- The lowest maintenance level capable of completerepair of the support item is the direct support level.D-- The lowest maintenance level capable of completerepair of the support item is the depot level, performed by depot.Z - Nonreparable. No repair is authorized.(3) Recoverability code. Recoverability codesare assigned to support items to indicate the dispositionaction on unserviceable items. The recoverability code isentered in the fifth position of the Uniform SMR Codeformat as follows:RecoverabilityDefinition codesZ-Nonrepairable item. When unserviceable, condemnand dispose at the level indicated in position 3.D- Reparable item. When beyond lower level repaircapability, return to depot. Condemnation anddisposal not authorized below depot level.F- Reparable item. When uneconomically reparable,condemn and dispose at the direct support level.1

TM 11-5820-759-20Pc.National Stock Number. Indicates the Nationalstock number assigned to the item and will be used forrequisitioning purposes.d.Part Number. Indicates the primary number usedby the manufacturer (individual, company, firm,corporation, or Government activity), which controls thedesign and characteristics of the item by means of itsengineering drawings, specifications standards, andinspection requirements, to identify an item or range ofitems.NOTEWhen a stock-numbered item is requisitioned, therepair part received may have a different part numberthan the part being re- placed.e.Federal Supply Code for Manufacturer (FSCM).The FSCM is a 5-digit numeric code listed in SP 708-42which is used to identify the manufacturer, distributor, orGovernment agency, etc.f.Description. Indicates the Federal item nameand, if required, a minimum description to identify theitem.g.Unit of Measure (U/M). Indicates the standard ofthe basic quantity of the listed item as used in performing the actual maintenance function. This measure isexpressed by a two-character alphabetical abbreviation(e.g., ea, in, pr, etc.). When the unit of measure differsfrom the unit of issue, the lowest unit of is- sue that willsatisfy the required units of measure will be requisitioned.H.Quantity Incorporated in Unit. Indicates thequantity of the item used in the breakout shown on theillustration figure, which is prepared for a functionalgroup, subfunctional group, or an assembly.4.Special Informationa.The illustrations in the manual are identical tothose published in TM 11-5820-759-34P. Only thoseparts assigned the third position SMR Code "C" or "O"are listed in the tabular listing; therefore, there may be abreak in the item number listing. Only illustrations containing organizational authorized items ap- pearin this manual.b.Thefollowing publications pertain to·AN/GR(-165 and its components: TM 11-5820-759-12,Radio Set ANIGRC-165 TM 11-5820-759-34P, Radio SetANIGRC-165 TM 11-5820-759-35, Radio Set ANIGRC165c.All equipments having serial numbers above6000 are equipped with the RT-902A/GRC-165.d.All equipments having serial numbers above5000 are equipped with the CU-1782A/GRC-165.5.How to Locate Repair Partsa.When National Stock Number or Part Number isUnknown:(1) First. Using the table of contents, determinethe functional group within which the repair part belongs. This is necessary since illustrations are preparedfor functional groups, and listings are divided into thesame groups.(2) Second. Find the illustration covering thefunctional group to which the repair part belongs.(3) Third. Identify the repair part on theillustration and note the illustration figure and itemnumber of the repair part.(4) Fourth. Using the Repair Parts Listing, findthe figure and item number noted on the illustration.b.When National Stock Number or Part Number IsKnown:(1) First. Using the Index of National StockNumbers and Part Numbers, find the pertinent Nationalstock number or part number. This index is in NIINsequence, followed by a list of part numbers in ascendingalphanumeric sequence, cross-referenced to theillustration figure number and item number.(2) Second.
