The results of this survey clearlydemonstrate the husband’s need for respect and thewife’s need for love.I believe that we can strengthen our marriages thissummer as we learn to better love and respect!Marriage can be a lot of fun it can also be reallychallenging. So what makes the difference betweenthose marriages that succeed and those that fail? How can a man give his wife the love she desires? How can a woman give her husband the respect heneeds? As we consider these questions and strive for ahealthy marriage, we must turn to God’s Word forthe answers. The Love & Respect seminar will pointus to Ephesians 5:33 which states,“Nevertheless let each one of you in particularso love his own wife as himself, and let thewife see that she respects her husband.”Husbands, love your wives; Wives, respect yourhusbands. In a recent survey, seven thousand peopleAs adults work their way through the Love &Respect: Building Blocks of Marriage by Dr.Emerson Eggerichs, youth and children will haveseparate seminars where they will learn how to havehealthy relationships and live with integrity withintheir families.Continue reading for more on the Children & Youthseminars.MY FAMILY ROCKS!Children, Pre-K through 6thgrade, will have their ownSummer Monday seminartitled, “My Family Rocks”where they will learn to liveas kids of integrity in theirhomes.(Continued; see DISCIPLESHIP/EVANGELISM on page 3)

Shepherd’s StaffTo the Flock of God at St. Andrew Baptist ChurchIhope you have been blessed by studying through the Book of Esther as much as I have thissummer. Every week as I study more, the Lord stirs my heart to see again the wonderfulprovidence of God. He so cares for His children! We are a very blessed people at St. Andrew Baptist Church to get to see the working of God shand so often among and around us. The more you are involved in the mission ministries ofour church at the Center of Hope, in Baltimore or Washington, or at one of the ends of theearth places God sends us, the more you get to see His hand at work. However, I want to tell you how He showed His hand one day earlier this year at our churchoffice. It happened one Thursday. A couple, probably in their 70 s, pulled up in front of theglass doors of the office and knocked. We have a lot of people do that, and usually they needa bag lunch or something else, and we give and do what we can. But that was not why thiscouple came. Our receptionist opened the door with, “How may I help you?” They said, “We would like tomake a donation to the church.” The receptionist called for Cathy. She came out and introducedherself. The couple said, “We know about the work of this church in the community. We wantto make a donation to the ministry of this church.” They said, “Let us get it,” and they headedout the door to their car. They opened their trunk, extracted two large plastic storage bins and a dolly. They proceededto load sixteen white, but stained, cloth bags into the bins and rolled them to the office door.Bro. Doug came into the office at this point, and he and others helped them get what wasobviously a heavy load across the threshold and into the office. The bags were all tied tightly,so no one knew what was in them. The bags didn t move, so they were pretty sure it wasn tkittens! The couple said they wanted the gift to be anonymous and quickly departed. No one knewthem. Not really knowing what had been brought in or what to do with it, Bro. Doug and theothers in the office untied a couple of the bags. Each one was filled with silver coins, somesilver half dollars (remember those) and some old silver dimes. Not wanting to do anythingthat might negatively impact the value of the coins, they did not even take any out, but retiedthe bags and secured them until the gift could be properly handled.Well, it has been properly handled now. Experts in silver and in coins have been consulted. We have not converted all of it to spendable dollars in the bank yet, because the consensus wasthat we would do better to not try to convert it all at once. We have however, sold some of thebags for a little over 55,000! The total value of the gift of silver will turn out to be in the areaof 100,000.Is God gracious? Is God faithful?God cares for His children! The Shepherd Loves the Sheep,Bro. Mike

Friends, Family, Acquaintances,Girlfriends & Boyfriends are just some of therelationships that will be covered. The goal isto have and maintain healthy, Christ-centeredrelationships!Whether you are a husband, wife, mom, dad, son,or daughter maintaining healthy relationshipswithin the family can be challenging. Plan to joinus on Monday nights @ 6pm and invest in someof the most important relationships you have.God bless,Bro. JeremyFromRick’sDeskVBS is over. Now what? That’s aninteresting question and one that isworthy of great consideration. First, let me describe what I experienced as ateacher of kids that had graduated 2ndgrade. I found those kids to be very smartand interested in the Bible. I see greathope for the future of the church if wework hard to cultivate this mission fieldcalled “our children.” These kids wereeager to learn and listened attentively towhoever was teaching. They had plentyof energy, were quick to laugh, enjoyedevery kind of game that Mike Dennisonand Andrew Mooney could throw atthem, and they had plenty of energy.Did I say that they had plenty of energy? So, what now? Well, I think that’s apretty easy answer. As the adult, I need tofind ways to encourage those kids to behere each and every opportunity. Thoselittle sponges we call kids are going tobe soaking up something, and I wouldrather that they be encouraged to soakup knowledge about Jesus. So, I’ll beencouraging their parents to come eachweek. Right now the parents have thepower and can make the decisions forthose rising 3rd graders. I hope thoseparents will be encouraged to bring theirkids to church and keep them engagedin Kid Zone and in our student ministrylater on. I pray that these parents willsee the eternal value in teaching kidsheavenly truths. I see the benefits sincemy kids are grown or almost grown.I need to trumpet that to parents ofyounger children who are being tuggedto have their children involved in somany things today. Church is important! My wife is a talented teacher of children, and I’ll always encourage her to use hertalents to teach children about the Lord.In fact, when I read my Bible I see thatGod wants us all to use the talents thatHe has given to us so that the Body ofChrist would be edified and healthy.I will encourage everyone to becomeinvolved in serving others so that theywill be offering a sacrifice of service tothe Lord as they use their gifts and talentsin His service. I will remind friends thatthere is no “retirement” from serving theLord and ask them to aggressively lookfor their opportunities!Understanding the importance ofteaching eternal values at an early age, Iwill practice consistent percentage givingto the ministries of SABC. Grateful forthe men and women that caught thevision of teaching heavenly truths toyoung people years ago when I was ayoung person. Now, I want to be oneof those who encourage others to seethe value in pouring yourself into therising generation. You have a uniqueopportunity to impact future generationsby giving NOW. Give so we can purchasecurriculum. Give so the ministries thathave been planned can be used for theglory of the Lord to raise up the nextgeneration. Give so we can maximize ourinvestment in the next generation. Jesustaught us how to give, so let’s follow Hisexample.VBS is over. Now work begins! I LOVEMY CHURCH!

Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed with all that is before me. Do youever feel that way too? I decided to look back at my personal journalfrom this same time last year to see if there was some encouragement tobe found there. I was reminded that I was experiencing some of thesesame challenges last year. At first I thought well that wasn’t helpful. But that was premature. As I sat there, God prompted me don’t stopreading! As I read more, what I saw was God’s faithfulness. There were somany answered prayers of children and preteens coming to Christ andlives being changed! I was reminded how “worth it” the added challengeswere. They caused me to know that all that was before me was beyondme and that’s a really good realization. Because then I remember, I can’t do this, but God can! I’m not alone in this, there are so many from our church family who give so much of their time and energy in the Kid Zone ministering topreschoolers, children, and their families. Sometimes their efforts literally bring them to the point of exhaustion. Honestly,if they did what they did in the flesh or for their own satisfaction, the turnover rate in the Kid Zone would be huge! Butit’s not. So why do we do what we do?Bottom line: Most people who come to faith in Christ do so when they are children. Those who serve and those who prayfor this ministry know we have a short window of time to reach the next generation Gen Z. Making it personal for St.Andrew Baptist Church: The task before us is urgent! God wants the children of Panama City and Panama City Beach,Florida to come to Him. He was including them when He said: “Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for tosuch belong the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 19:14So, I’m asking the Lord to create in us a sense of urgency until every child is reached! Ever wonder how you can make adifference in the next generation? Cry out to God for the children of our city miss some sleep praying for them. Theharvest is white and our God is great!LIVING IN “THE GAP”Church Family,My mind tells me that summer has just started. However, theweather, my tired body, and our full calendar tell me it hasbeen upon us for some time. For many of us, summer is a timeto relax a bit, enjoy the beautiful city in which we live, andregroup for the fall. This is also true for many of our collegestudents. You may be noticing some familiar faces back in town overthe last month. Many students who grew up in our church arehome for summer break. More than that, we have a group ofstudents from Texas and Oklahoma joining our worship forthe summer. I would ask you to consider these college studentsas you make your plans for the rest of the summer. Some ofthem you know, others you don’t, all of them you would enjoy. Many college students desire to use the summer to continuetheir education outside of the books they read at school. I wantto encourage you to be a part of that education. Meet a studentthis summer or connect with one you have known for sometime. Invite them to your home. Teach them to cook. Let themdrive your boat and swim with your children. Exemplify forthem how a Christian family operates. Pray for them. Pray withthem. Pray over them. More than anything love them.We live in a world that seeks to destroy the lives of collegestudents. As the Church, we should be fighting against this witheverything the Lord has given us. The Lord used these kinds ofrelationships to teach my wife and I how to be a family and Iknow He is continuing that work in others today. I pray youwill see the opportunities that the Lord places before you thissummer with our young adults in PC and trust He is workingHis plan through you and your family!Grace and Peace,Thomas

Youth MinistryUNLEASHEDA call to PRAYERSummer is in full swing and the youth ministry is rolling! There are many things going on in the youth ministry thatI would love to point out, but I feel the need to just ask for one big favor, PRAYER. There are many things that theyouth will be doing this summer, but most urgent are our two mission trips. Our youth are heading out to Mexico andBaltimore in July. I covet your prayers for the work, leaders, students, and myself as we are sent. As our youth get readyto be sent I would ask that you join me in prayer. Pray for Pastor Dan at the Village Church and Michael Crawfordat Freedom Church. Pray that God will let them be a light in their community and their city. Pray for Misionero LuisMartinez in Mexico. Pray that the work he will be doing to get ready for our team will come together. Pray for theyouth and adults, as they get ready to be used by God! Pray for all the logistics that still need to come together. Prayfor the ones who will hear the gospel and that many will come to faith in Christ. We have 47 going to Baltimore and20 going to Mexico this year and we know God is going to do great things! We have already seen Him do great things! But we know that if the Spirit of God does not move then nothing happens! So we are asking you to pray! Psalm 34:17“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” I love my church!Bro. MarkMISSION: POSSIBLEI was thinking about what to writein my Lighthouse article this monthand trying to decide what you as thereader would find interesting. I firstconsidered just telling you aboutthe recent trip to West Africa by theteam led by Thomas Gamble – howthey planted several new churches– how they ministered to hundredsof children – how they taught newchurch leaders in Ghana abouttheology and doctrine but thenI decided you might prefer to hearthat there are now new believers inChrist in West Africa as a result ofthe obedience of SABC members tocarry the good news of Jesus to thatpart of the world. Then I was considering that I couldtell you about the upcoming trip toBrazil – how Bro. Mike is taking ateam to remote places of the Amazonwhere they will visit villages; sharethe love of Christ with folks whowill hear about Jesus for the firsttime; where two of our Ghanapartners will join this team as theyseek to be obedient to their “Endsof the Earth” calling; but then, youmight prefer to hear that manywill become believers in Christ asa result of the obedience of SABCmembers to carry the good news ofJesus to that part of the world.Or, I could write about our youthas they are preparing to go toGuadalajara, Mexico where theywill have the opportunity to workwith our Mexican partners inestablishing the church, teaching, ministry opportunities; but thenyou might imagine and want tohear that our youth will be sharingthe gospel with non-believers thereand many will become believers asa result of the obedience of SABCmembers to carry the good news ofJesus to that part of the world.Or, I could tell you about ouryouth who are in the final stages ofplanning to go to Baltimore to assistour church plant partners – and youmight prefer well, you get it!A second team of SABC membersleaves August 4 for West Africawhere we will dedicate new churchbuildings and plant more churchesand disciple more believers, and yes, share the gospel of Jesus to folkswho have never heard His name!I’m grateful to all of you SABCmembers who support the name ofJesus by sending, giving, and going!God bless you all and praise Jesus forHis unlimited love that we actuallyget to share around the globe.Bro. Lynn
