HabitStackingWhy should I participate in the21-Day Challenge?If you want to take charge of your health, life,and happiness, it requires some change. Thebest way to make lasting change is throughmicro habits, as they eventually lead to macrochanges. Often, we feel overwhelmed if we trychanging too much too quickly. But if we startsmall, it’s amazing how we can train our brainsand bodies to do something new, little by little.If you think about it, we already have thousandsof daily habits that are second nature to us. Wetake showers, lock the door behind us whenwe leave for work, give our kids a kiss beforebed—all without even thinking about it. Whenwe do things repeatedly, the brain builds strongconnections with those actions, until eventuallywe hardly think about them.This is the idea behind habit stacking. Instead oftrying to make a major change and retrain thebrain all at once, you instead take advantage ofthe habits you already have and build on them.For example, if you want to be better at flossing,you stack that with another habit. Every morningwhen you turn on the shower and have to waitfor the water to warm up, you use those 30seconds to floss. Then pretty soon, just liketurning on the shower every morning, flossingwhile the shower warms up becomes secondnature to you.3

Before you know it, habitsyou used to dream about will come so naturallyyou won’t even have to think about them!CueHaAll habits work on a loop. We first experiencea cue, then we perform the habit, after whichwe receive some sort of reward. That’s how allhabits are formed. However, we’ve become soused to these daily habits that we don’t noticethe cues triggering them. The good news is thismeans you can use specific and deliberate cuesto trigger habits you want to adopt, and thenreap the rewards.4

How It WorksSTEP 1: Let’s Get Started!Are you ready to change your health? If you want tofeel less stressed, lethargic, and weighed down bylife, you’ll need to change your habits. We're givingyou three habits to focus on for 21 days. At the endof 21 days, these three habits will give you a newnormal—a happier, healthier day, and healthy habitsthat you don’t even have to think twice about.Habit 1: Water IntakeHydration does so much to help the body, yet manyof us aren’t getting adequate water every day. Bymaking the conscious decision to increase yourwater intake, you’ll notice improvement in other areasof health like skin, digestion, focus, energy, and more.And before long, you won’t have to remind yourselfto drink more water—it’ll just be a habit.Habit 2: Daily MovementMost people have the best intentions when it comesto daily exercise, but busy schedules and familyresponsibilities often get in the way. Setting asidetime to get moving helps us feel our best. Whetheryou get moving by taking your dog on a walk,straining through a tough workout, or doing a quickyoga session, your body and mind will feel betterwhen you’re done.Habit 3: Restful SleepRestful sleep is one of the most underrated elementsof a healthy body. You might find you’ll need toremove distractions and barriers to good sleep ifyou want to make it a part of your regular routine. Byfocusing on getting sufficient rest, you’ll find you feelmuch better during the day and have the energy andmotivation to focus on other healthy habits.6

How to Habit Stack YourThree Daily HabitsSTEP 2:Choose Your Personal HabitYou can use habit stacking to turn thesethree action items into rock-solid habits.Remember, if you combine these habits withexisting habits or cues, you’ll be more likely toactually do them.We hope you’re excited to use the next 21days to focus on the three habits of waterintake, daily movement, and restful sleep.But you don’t have to stop there! Choose onepersonal habit to focus on over the next 21days, big or small. If you need ideas, find ahabit you’d like to work on in the following list.Here are some examples of how you canstack them to help you do these three habitsevery day: Do you drink coffee in the morning? Whileyour morning coffee is brewing, drink aglass of water to help you get going onincreasing your water intake for the day. Do you struggle with getting a workout inyour schedule? After you clean up dinnereach night, go for a family walk to get yourbody moving. Do you have a hard time removingdistractions and falling asleep at night?Before you start your nighttime routine,turn off the WiFi so you create a calm,undistracting environment for sleep.My habit:7
