Please contact GayThomas @ 508-340-5608Offertory for the weekend of December 18 & 19On this Sunday, December 26, the Churchcelebrates the Feast of The Holy Family of Jesus,Mary and Joseph. Our celebration of this importantday in the Church’s calendar challenges us toreflect upon the importance of faith in family life. The gospel tells us that Joseph and Mary went tothe Jerusalem Temple “each year.” This detailshows us that they were observant and faithful intheir practice of the Jewish faith. They includedJesus in this observance, forming Him in the habitof prayer, worshipping God in the Temple andloving God. The child Jesus took freely into Hisheart the example of Joseph and Mary’s faith and, therefore, became a faith-filled person Himself. It should not surprise us, then, that Jesus did notwant to leave the Temple once Joseph and Marybrought Him there. He knew that the Temple wasHis “Father’s house” and as Joseph loved Jesusand wanted to be with him as his foster- father, soJesus wanted to be with His Heavenly Father in theTemple. In the human love that Joseph and Maryshowed Jesus in their home, Jesus, in hishumanity, came to know the heavenly love of God.The last lines of the gospel teach us much aboutJesus’ early life. It states “Jesus advanced inwisdom and age and favor before God and man.”This did not happen simply because of Jesus’divinity. Jesus grew spiritually, emotionally andphysically because of Joseph and Mary’s care ofHim. He became the human person that He wasbecause of the formation Joseph and Maryprovided Him.OffertoryMaintenanceOnline GivingTotal 2,608.00 70.00 30.00 2,708.00During the coming year, may God bless all of ourfamilies with a greater understanding of faith’srole in the formation of children and theimportance of love and example from parents totheir children.SVDP In Christ, Fr.
