INTRODUCTIONO U R S T R AT E G YD I G I TA L P R O G R E S SRESPONSIBLE CONNECTIVITYPERFORMANCE SUMMARYWELCOME FROM OUR CEOThe year 2020 was unlike any inour lifetimes. The global pandemiccreated a generation-definingexperience forcing us to presspause on our lives and the routineswe know, devastating millions, with community after communitycoming together for those in need.Yet through this uncertainty, 2020 gave us insights andrenewed our commitment to critical imperatives, fromprotecting human health, to ensuring that equity and fairtreatment extend to everyone, to staying connected to eachother and to our world.Liberty Global has long been a champion of these issues, and I am incredibly proud of what we achieved when peopleneeded us most. Anchored by our purpose – Tomorrow’sConnections Today – our superior broadband, video andmobile networks served as essential lifelines for customers, businesses and communities. They more than stood up tothe challenge of massive shifts in demand so that peoplecould continue to learn, work, stay entertained and reachloved ones in the most critical moments.GRI 102.14At the same time, we significantly accelerated ourcommitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) andamplified our focus on educating and empowering ourpeople, and strengthening a culture of belonging whereeveryone can bring their true selves to work. And we werestewards for the environment; reducing waste and carbonemissions, launching our greenest-ever set top box, andbeing recognised as a sustainability leader. We also had a landmark year as we continued to transformthe telecoms landscape, by creating national fixed-mobileconnectivity champions. Through our 50/50 joint venturebetween Virgin Media and O2 in the UK, and our acquisitionof Sunrise in Switzerland, we now enable 85 million fixed andmobile subscribers to not just participate but thrive in ourrapidly evolving world. Our Connected Purpose enabled us to create substantialeconomic, social and environmental impact, and I am pleasedto share a few highlights of what we achieved in 2020.(continues on next page)7

INTRODUCTIONO U R S T R AT E G YFirst, at Liberty Global, we believe the connections we arebuilding today are helping to create a better tomorrow. When Covid-19 emerged, stay-at-home measures increasedbroadband traffic by 75% in 2020. While our gigabit networksmore than met this demand, we focused to ensure ourbroadband was not just next- generation fast, but accessible, reliable, and achievable for vulnerable communities within ourmarkets. By the end of 2020, 96% of our networks enabledaccess to 1Gbps speeds. And our Essential Broadband programsoffered affordable connectivity and devices. We also worked to help our own people through the challengesof Covid-19, establishing a 4 million Employee Responseprogram, funded by our executive team, Board of Directors andthrough a corporate match, to assist those disproportionatelyaffected by the crisis. In 2020, we meaningfully intensified our DE&I ambitions toensure progress was embedded into everything we do – fromour policies, to our marketing, to the products we design. Weestablished five diversity priorities across Gender, LGBTQIA ,Ability (including neurodiversity), Race and Ethnicity, andMultigenerational, guided by a dedicated DE&I Council of 17senior leaders from across our footprint, which I co-chairalong with our Chief Diversity Officer. The Council works toensure we are creating sustainable, positive, cultural change –transparently and authentically.D I G I TA L P R O G R E S SRESPONSIBLE CONNECTIVITYProtecting the environment was also front and centre. In2020, we were awarded an A-rating by CDP Global, receivingcommendation for performance on energy consumption andcarbon emissions. For the eighth year, we were recognised bythe prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, landingin the 97th percentile. And we were proud to be among the first500 companies worldwide to develop approved Science-basedTargets to reduce carbon emissions in alignment with the 2015Paris Agreement. Our Dutch subsidiary VodafoneZiggo launched the company’sfirst-ever Green Bond, which will be used to finance projectsthat support low-carbon, climate-resilient growth. Last yearalso saw the introduction of our Mini TV 4K, designed by LibertyGlobal engineers to deliver a world-class viewing experiencewhile reducing energy consumption by 77% and utilising 35%recycled plastics. And despite the pandemic, we made sure that the great ideasof young people had a chance to shine. Participation in the9th annual Coolest Projects technology fair grew 50% lastyear and our 2020 SteamCup Challenge included more than400 young coders who virtually displayed their Smart Cityinventions. And our Future Makers, Think BIG and ThinkSocialinitiatives continued to celebrate the enthusiasm and creativityof upcoming innovators.PERFORMANCE SUMMARYI will look back on 2020 as ayear dominated by tragedy, uncertainty and fear, but also aperiod characterised by empathy, perseverance, agility and unity. Weare dedicated to our overarchinggoal of delivering reliable, outstanding connectivity andentertainment services for ourcustomers and their communities– responsibly and sustainably.Watch where we go from here!Mike Fries, CEOLiberty GlobalGRI 102.148

INTRODUCTIONO U R S T R AT E G YD I G I TA L P R O G R E S SRESPONSIBLE CONNECTIVITYCaring for our familyEssential BroadbandAs countries locked down due to the Covid-19crisis, Liberty Global created a response fundto help employees and their families whowere significantly affected by the pandemic. The program was initially funded by LibertyGlobal’s executive leadership team and boardof directors, who donated 2 million out oftheir 2020 salaries and director fees, including 1 million from CEO Mike Fries. Additionally,Liberty Global matched all donations, bringingthe total amount to 4 million. All Liberty Globalemployees were eligible to submit applicationsfor assistance and more than 2,300 grants havebeen paid out since April 2020.The pandemic reinforced what access toconnectivity means; now is the time to take actionand ensure that everyone has access to reliableand affordable internet. Telenet, Virgin Media UKand UPC Poland kicked off programmes in 2020to support disadvantaged communities withassistance to get connected. Not being connectedmeans missed opportunities for education, employment, health and public services as well asthe essential digital skills that are necessary forsocial participation in our modern digital society.Supporting education andremote learningSchool closures and the switch to remotelearning was tough on families. Not only weremany schools not prepared, many familiesalso experienced hardships as households hadto quickly adapt to having multiple devicesand connectivity to support. Across all ouroperations we supported teachers with remotelearning tools and support, free WiFi vouchersfor disconnected teachers and students, anddonated laptops to keep students learning. Weeven got inventive with our digital coding clubsand took all those classes online. As 2020 cameto a close we saw many schools opening backup and we are happy to see kids reconnectingon the playgrounds and in classrooms.PERFORMANCE SUMMARY“ W E K N O W T H AT T H E S E A R ET O U G H T I M E S A N D T H AT T H E R EARE MANY PEOPLE FINDING ITM O R E D I F F I C U LT T O M A K E E N D SM E E T A N D FA C I N G F I N A N C I A LU N C E R TA I N T Y.
