A MESSAGE FROM FATHER PATDear St. Pius X Community,God calls us to love all people at all mes. I havewondered about that many mes in my life. Afriend gave us the phrase “some people makethemselves very hard to love.” Isn’t that thetruth? We all have our moments of driving otherscrazy. I have always loved the book The FourAgreements. One of the ancient agreements is tonever make assump ons. How o en do assumpons cause worry or stress for no reason? Assumpons are made most of the me when we don’thave all the facts or we have added our worries as“facts.” Doing this never serves us well. God callsus to live in the present, yet prepare for the future.A perfect example. At all the Masses this weekendwe presented a survey to explore the possibility of alater Mass in English. The comments I receivedshowed many assump ons being made. All theCouncil and I are doing at this me is gatheringinforma on. This is not a quick or easy decision. Idon’t want to add a Mass, we already have 6, butwe do need to take care of the parish. It seems likethere might be a significant number that wouldbenefit from a later Mass in English. We will discussat Parish Council and it will be brought back to youat least one more me before any decision is made. That said, we celebrate Pentecost this weekend. The “birthday” of who we are as“Church.” The first reading talks about all the placesthat the assembled came from yet they heard themessage in their own language. God comes to usregardless of our na onal origin, skin color, religion, poli cal party or any boundary you can imagine, andthe message is the same. Go out and makedisciples. Go out and spread the Word. We do thatby how we live, by how we carry ourselves andinteract with others. People come against us allthe me and at mes we could easily be jus fiedin responding in ways society would condone, butGod calls us to a deeper reality. How by our lives dowe elicit the best out of every single person weencounter? Think if we can do that with everyonewe encounter, and it started spreading?Maybe for those of us with dogs our prayer shouldbe “Lord, help us to become the person my dogbelieves me to be!” Wouldn’t that be an amazingworld? We are also in the final stages of forming ourStewardship commi ee. Kevin Bowman has agreedto help with ge ng this off the ground with MariaOr z from the school. I would love to start this with12 members. Please see me or call the office if youare interested. The goal is to help create anatmosphere of stewardship and reduce the totalnumber of asks for me, talent and treasure. Theini al training will be June 9th at 9 AM in the FamilyCenter. If interested, at least come and see what itis all about. In Him,Fr. PatMASS & CHURCH OFFICE INFORMATIONMonday, May 28 - Memorial DayThere will not be a 6:30 AM Word & Communion. The Mass for that day has been moved to 10:00 AMinstead of 6:30 PM. FR. CESAR’S CORNERHello Everyone!Today we receive the most awaited moment of thechurch; the Holy Spirit. We heard repeatedly on thelast Sundays and daily Mass readings that Christwould send us the Holy Spirit. To that effect, He saidthat the disciples should not leave Jerusalem. Thepromise of Christ is fulfilled in what we have heard intoday’s readings, with the descending of the HolySpirit. Pentecost is related to the Ascension ofChrist into heaven, it means that Christ had to go inorder for the Holy Spirit to come.At Easter me the feature was the presence in theSanctuary of the Easter Candle. It symbolizes Christresurrected and being the light of the na ons. Jesussaid in the Gospel of John (8:12), “I am the light ofthe world. Whoever follows me will not walk indarkness, but will have the light of life.” This light isnow channeled through the outpouring of the HolySpirit. We will not see the Easter candle lit anymorein the Sanctuary but for bap sms and funerals. Itmeans that we posses a light that is se led into oursouls.During the forty days of Lent Christ prepared us forthis moment and as the me drew near we preparedin many ways. One way was by praying nine daysconsecu vely; those nine days were dedicated tomedita on, some prayers were mainly based on thegi s of the Holy Spirit and by coming to Mass. Someothers read the Bible and s ll others are comingtoday to celebrate joyously on Pentecost Sunday.Come, Holy Spirit, come!Fr. Cesar BetancourtALTAR FLOWERSIn Memory of: Pedro R.
