It was not a great success at the time with 20 publishersrejecting it, but by the 1960s it was a bestselling novel. William Golding received a Nobel Prize forLiterature in 1983. It resonates with implications far beyond the bounds of the small island andexplores problems and questions universal to the human experience.This particular novel is a group of young boys who are stranded on an island and left tosurvive on their own and govern themselves. Lord of the Flies is an allegory (a story with both aliteral and a figurative or moral meaning). There are many interpretations that can be derived fromthis novel. Lord of the Flies Mask ProjectDescription:Just like the characters in Lord of the Flies use face paint to enable them to actdifferently than they would normally, you will be creating a mask that shows yourinner and outer self/voice.
