Students analyze the sales process and financial management principles.This course allows students to reinforce, apply, and transfer academic knowledge and skills to a variety ofinteresting and relevant activities, problems and settings in business, marketing, and finance.Objectives (Segments): Students will specifically gain the following skills upon successful completion of thiscourse: Information management Financial analysisCommunications Professional development Employability and career development Ethics and legal responsibility Problem solving and critical thinking Leadership and teamwork Academic foundations Safety, health, and environmentalWork-Based Learning (WBL): Is incorporated in CTE courses as a way to allow students to have the opportunityto learn a variety of skills by expanding the walls of classroom learning to include the community. Work-BasedLearning creates meaning for students as it provides opportunities for students to learn a variety of skills withhands-on career development experiences. Students will learn to work in teams, solve problems, and meetemployers’ expectations. WBL includes student participation in field trips, Career Technical StudentOrganizations (CTSO’s) (ie DECA, National Business Honor Society, MReach, Global Trade Mission), and otherstudent leadership opportunities. WBL provides: Active participation of educators, employees, labor, students, parents, and appropriate agency andcommunity representatives.Tentative Upcoming WBL’s Include:Development of learning and workplace competencies. (Notice: You must have Id to receive a pass. Knowalso that passes are a privilege NOT a right and are limited. A STUDENT CAN NOT receives a pass during thefirst and last 10 minutes of class.)

Grading Policy: Cumulative grading will be used in this course. Each card marking is worth 30% of the finalgrade. All assignments (includes Work-Based and Service Learning Projects); quizzes; and tests will beincluded in the final grade. All late work will receive 50% credit. Grades will be determined using thefollowing scale:100-94 A89-88 B 79 - 78 C 69 - 68 D 59 – 0 F93-90 A87-84 B77 - 74 C67-64 D83 - 80 B73 - 70 C63 - 60 D(Class work is not optional; refusal will earn the student 0’s for the day)It is my belief that when due dates are established and not adhered to disservice is being done to the studentswho do submit assignments on time. You should submit assignments by the due date, except in extremesituations. Late Work will receive up to 50% deduction of the grade value assigned (deduction of points, willbe at my discretion, depending on such factors as degree of lateness and whether it impacts any otherstudents (for example in group projects or discussions). Assignments submitted late may not be graded untilthe end of the card marking.Also, a comprehensive final exam will be given which will count for 10% of the final grade. It is advised thatstudents keep ALL graded papers in their binder until the end of the semester. Academic progress can bemonitored by averaging out the grades on these papers on a daily basis (this is more accurate than MiStar).* The instructor reserves the right to adjust the course grade determination as needed.Tests and Quizzes: Quizzes will be given periodically and may not be announced in advance. If a quiz isgiven on the day of an unexcused absence or unexcused tardy, a zero will be recorded and no make-upallowed.Grade Discrepancies: In order to discuss any grading discrepancies the student must meet with the teacherafter class with ALL supporting documents/graded assignments.Absence/Tardiness: Good attendance is expected and is necessary for successful academic progress in ABT.Since all work in this class involves computer software and textbooks housed at SHS (textbooks do not leavethe room) tardiest and absences will put one substantially behind rather quickly. Attendance policies asstated in the SHS student handbook will be followed.Makeup Work: Excused absences must be documented within 48 hours in order to receive “make-up work.It is the student’s responsibility to check the Daily Agenda for assignments. CLASS PARTICIPATION cannotbe made up!!!Academic Dishonesty: Any student found cheating (giving or receiving work) will receive a zero for thatwork and the appropriate parental and administrative referral will follow. Academic dishonesty includes butis not limited to cheating, copying the work of another student, plagiarism, collusion and unauthorizedcommunication between students during an examination. Determination of academic dishonesty shall bebased on the judgment of the instructor, or other supervising employee, taking into consideration writtenmaterials, observation, or information from other students.STUDENTS WHO CHEAT WILL RECEIVE A ZERO ON THE ASSIGNMENT, PROJECT, QUIZ, OR EXAM. Computer Usage: Each student will need to log into the network in order to access his or her directory. ALLWORK MUST BE SAVED ON THE STUDENT’S DRIVE!!! Students MUST keep all passwords confidential and logoff the system before leaving the classroom. iPads will be utilized to address course curriculum. Parents andstudents must sign attached iPad Acceptable Use. Students are not to disable or add programs to ANYCOMPUTER SYSTEM without permission!*NO outside CD’s may be used in the lab. If students bring in outside materials, the items may be confiscatedand destroyed. Also note that NO FOOD, GUM, CANDY OR BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED IN THE COMPUTERLABS.Maintenance of Equipment: Each student is required to immediately report to the teacher any damage to theequipment. This includes hardware, software, textbooks and all classroom furnishings. As per school policy,each student will be held financially responsible for any damage done to equipment.Note: Cell-phones, iPod’s/mp3’s, headphones/earplugs and other controversial electronic devices are notallowed OUT (visible) in the classroom unless they are being utilized as part of classroom instruction.Students should not use cell-phones to send /check messages or take pictures during class. Administrativereferrals may result if thisoccurs in the classroom.Classroom Expectations: The behavior policies are the same as those found in the SHS Student Handbookand shall also include the following:1. Students will RESPECT the LEARNING ENVIRONMENT and the right of others to learn. (NO loud talking,profanity, name calling or horseplay).2. Students will remain in their assigned seats unless instructed to move.3. Students will keep their work area clean (excessive paper thrown away).4. Students will remain in their seats when the bell rings, until dismissed by the teacher.5. Follow all items included in this syllabusClassroom Rules and Consequences: Everything we do in life has consequences. If you choose to run a redlight, you must accept the consequences that come with it (traffic ticket, taking someone’s life, crashing yourcar, etc.) Consequences are the things that happen to you when you choose NOT to obey a rule. This is the 1st graded assignment!The Student & Parent understand that the iPad Acceptable Use Policy includes: That the iPad is for educational purposes; the student is not to play games or use any social media networks.The student is never to leave the iPad unattended.The student will never lend iPad to others as it is checked out to the student andhe/she is responsible for it during the time that it is signed out to them.That the iPad is subject to inspection at any time without notice.The camera and/or the microphone will only be used when the teacher tells thestudent to.The students will not share any images or movies of people in a public space on theInternet, unless asked to do so by the Teacher.Users Responsibilities include: The iPad screen is made of glass and therefore is subject to cracking and breaking if misused: Do not place heavyobjects (books, laptops, etc.) on top of the iPad.Only a soft cloth or approved laptop screen cleaning solution is to be used to clean the iPad screen.In the event of any disciplinary action, the completion of all class work remains the responsibility of the pupil.Syncing will be done by school personnel.Items deleted from the iPad cannot be recovered; therefore, students must save items to their google drive.Prohibited Uses (not exclusive): Violating Copyright Laws – Users are not allowed to have music, install apps or any illegal activityVideo & Camera – Users must use good judgment when using the camera. The user agrees that the camera willnot be used to take inappropriate, illicit or sexually explicit photographs or videos, nor will it be used toembarrass anyone in any way. Images of other people may only be made with the permission of those in thephotograph.Posting of images/movie on the Internet into a public forum is strictly forbidden, without the express permissionof the Teacher.Use of the camera and microphone is strictly prohibited unless permission is granted by a teacher.Malicious Use/Vandalism – Any attempt to destroy hardware, software or data will be subject to disciplinaryaction.Jailbreaking – Jailbreaking is the process of which removes any limitations placed on the iPad by Apple.Jailbreaking results in a less secure device and is strictly prohibited.Inappropriate media may not be used as a screensaver or background photo. Presence of pornographicmaterials, inappropriate language, alcohol, drug or gang related symbols or pictures will result in disciplinaryactions.Removal of coversUsing iPad or other technology capabilities for cheating or communicating with other students during classConsequences will be administered if a student violates any of the terms and conditions, he/she may lose technologyprivileges and suffer disciplinary consequences. Disciplinary consequences include, but are not limited to: warnings,detentions, suspension, loss of privileges, placement of fist stage or second stage probation, parent phone callsand/or meetings, and/or expulsion.
