Islamic Studies Syllabus Aims1. To cultivate in the pupil a reverence for, and a love for Allah, Creator of the Universe.2. To acquaint the pupil with the basic teaching of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quranand exemplified in the life and conduct of Muhammad (saw).3. To develop within the pupil the qualities which make for a well - balanced Muslim.4. To teach the pupil selected Ahadeeth in order to direct his / her own conduct.5. To get the pupils to learn by heart such Ayaat and Duas as necessary for use ineveryday life.6. To teach the pupil the daily practices with regard to personal hygiene, worship andgeneral conduct as befits a Muslim.7. To make the pupil aware that he or she is part of a greater Muslim community.8. To acquaint the pupils with the contributions made by Muslims towards humanprogress.Notes:Page31. The Quran provides for the daily conduct of the Muslim as well as his spiritual needs.The syllabus, accordingly, takes account of these two aspects as part of a unitarystructure.2. A thorough knowledge of the life of Prophet Muhammad (saw) is essential as his liferepresents the ultimate example for all Muslims.3. The contents of the syllabus should be treated in such a manner that it leads to soundcharacter development.4.
