A. Torrey

WAR ROOM"When you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shutthe door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Fatherwho sees in secret shall reward you openly." (Matthew 6:6)Engage the War Room"When you pray."The word 'when' isn't implying an option to pray, but rather aninstruction to pray! Jesus wasn't giving the disciples a choiceabout praying; He gave them instructions to help them pray.

Each one of us must engage the War Room of prayer. It's not anoption; it's a must! You have to make an intentional decision toengage in prayer every day!Enter the War Room"Enter into your closet, and when you have shut the door."The implication from this phrase is not necessarily about aphysical location as it is about removing distraction. When youenter into the War Room of prayer, you are engaging in spiritualwarfare. There should be an intensity, a focus, and a fervor."The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."(James 5:16)Eliminate distractions! Pick a place where you can optimize yourprayer time and make war on the floor! Get on your face beforeGod and call out to Him in desperation!Execute the War Room"Pray to your Father, which is in secret."Can you think of a more comforting statement about prayer than'pray to your FATHER?' No one loves you and understands youmore than your Heavenly Father. So PRAY to Him!Use the following simple Prayer Strategy to help you execute theWar Room. Use the acrostic P.R.A.Y. as a guide. The followingpages of this booklet will give you some practical suggestionsregarding these four areas:Praise – Praise refers to something that has captured yourattention and becomes the topic of your conversation. Givepraise to God as you focus on His character and attributes.Reflect – Reflect on the salvation you have in the Lord. Asthe Holy Spirit reveals to you your sinfulness, ask God forforgiveness.Ask – There are many needs to pray about and many peopleto pray for. God is not only waiting for you to ask. He wantsyou to ask.

Yield – Praying is pursuing the will of God, and strengthcomes to those who yield to do God's will.Experience the War Room"and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly."As you develop a prayer strategy plan and engage, enter, andexecute the War Room, you will then experience the War Room. You will experience victory, answers to prayer, and a closenesswith God. The experience is well worth the effort of praying dailyto the Lord.
