While doing this, it is a good time togrease the fittings on the rotating shaft. It works the bestto take the weight off of the shaft by blocking your IceCastle Fish House / Fish House RV up, so that the greasecan work through shaft effectively. We recommend thatthis is done every few weeks throughout the year, toprevent any freeze up or rusting on the pivot arm andwinch assemblies.Wheel Lug TorqueNOTICE: SECURE ATTACHMENT OF THE WHEEL TO THEHUB/DRUM WITH A TORQUE WRENCH BEFORE EACH TRIP!DO NOT GUESS AT LUG TORQUE – USE A TORQUE WRENCH!!Make sure all of the lug nuts are secure before each trip.Inspect tires for proper inflation, uneven wear patternson the tread, cracks, foreign objects or other signs ofwear or damage.Hydraulic Drop Down / Lift System: Hydraulic oil reservoir should be checked each timebefore operating the system. Hydraulic system (pump, rams and hoses) needs tobe checked for leaks and/or damage each timebefore operating the system.Checking tires for proper inflation, lug nut tightness andtire wear is imperative to safely towing your Ice Castle.Periodic packing of the wheel bearings, inspection of thetrailer electrical and breaking system (if your model isequipped with trailer breaks) is important to thelongevity and safe operation of your Ice Castle.Use only specified hydraulic fluid in the hydraulicreservoir. Use a premium hydraulic oil to ensureoptimum performance and system life. Select oil that hasanti-wear properties, rust and oxidation inhibitors, foaminhibitors and good stability.Checking that all the running/clearance, brake and turnsignal lights are working should be done before each trip.Wheel Bearing MaintenanceNOTICE: It is imperative that trailer wheel bearings berepacked (re-greased) yearly, after periods of storageand/or every 2000 miles of travel to prolong life of huband axle assemblies.Examples of premium grade hydraulic oils: ChevronRando HDZ, Mobil DTE 10, DTE 20 series, AMSOIL, andShell Tellus.Ambient Temperature RangeISO Viscosity Grade- 20 F to 32 F (-29 C to 0 C)15** 14 F to 120 F (-10 C to 49 C)22, 32, ATF*NOTICE: THIS MUST BE DONE REGULARILY AND IS THERESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER TO ENSURE IT ISACCOMPLISHED.*Automotive Transmission Oils are acceptable undernormal conditions.**Aviation Oils such as Valvoline ROYCO series or MobilAero HF or HFA may be used in prolonged, extreme coldenvironments.Ice Castle Fish Houses/RV’s use tires that are 205/75/15,225/75/15 and 225/75/16 sizes. These are an ST ratedtire and are rated at a maximum speed of 65 MPH.7

TiresThe following information is provided to make tire safetya regular part of your Ice Castle Fish House Fish Houseand tow vehicle maintenance routine. Therefore, you cannot get an accurate measurement oftire pressure unless the tire is cold.Checking Tire PressureBecause tires are designed to be used on more than onetype of vehicle, tire manufacturers list the 'maximumpermissible inflation pressure' on the sidewall of the tire. The number is the greatest amount of air pressure thatshould ever be put in the tire under normal drivingconditions. It is important to check your vehicle's tire pressure atleast once a month for the following reasons: Tires lose air pressure over time. Tires can lose air suddenly if you drive over apothole, drive on ruff surfaces or strike the curb. With radial tires it is not always possible todetermine under inflation by visual inspection. For your convenience, purchase a good quality tirepressure gauge to keep in your tow vehicle.Tire MaintenanceWell maintained tires improve steering, stopping, traction, and load-carrying capability of your tow vehicleand your Ice Castle. Under or over inflated tires, overloaded (over weight) trailers, un-balance load in thetrailer and overloaded tow vehicles are a major cause oftire failure. To avoid flat tires and other types of tirefailures, inspect tires before each trip, maintain propertire pressure, observe tire’s condition, keep your loadbalanced, the weight below your fish house (GVWR &GAWR) and your tow vehicle load limits, and avoidhazardous road conditions.Know Your Vehicle's Recommended Tire Pressure andLoad Limits (GVWR & GAWR)The tire information and trailer certification labelcontains information on tires and load limits. These labels indicate the trailer frame’s manufacturer'sinformation including: Recommended tire size. Recommended tire inflation pressure. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR - the maximumoccupant and cargo weight a vehicle or trailer isdesigned to carry). Gross axle weight ratings (GAWR - the maximumweight each axle is designed to carry).Preventing Tire DamageSlow down if you have to go over a pothole, object in ora rough road.Do not run over foreign objects in the roadway and trynot to strike the curb when parking.Tire Safety Checklist Check tire pressure regularly (at least once a month andbefore each use), including any spare. Inspect tires for uneven wear patterns on the tread, cracks, foreign objects, or other signs of wear or trauma. Remove bits of glass, stones or any other foreign objectswedged in the tread. Make sure your tire’s valve stems have valve caps to keepdirt out of them. Check tire pressure before going on every trip and beforeeach leg of your trip. Do not overload your vehicle or load your trailerunbalanced. Check the tire information placard for themaximum recommended load for the vehicle (see Loadingand Balancing section of this manual). Remember that some of the weight of the loaded trailer istransferred to the towing vehicle.Understanding Tire Pressure and Load LimitsTire inflation pressure is the amount of the air in the tirethat provides it with load-carrying capacity and affectsthe overall performance of the tire and vehicle. The tireinflation pressure is a number that indicates the amountof air pressure, measured in pounds per square inch (psi)a tire requires to be properly inflated (this number is alsoexpressed in kilopascals (kpa) which is a metricmeasuring system used Internationally).Vehicle manufacturers determine this number based onthe vehicles' design load limit which is the greatestamount of weight a vehicle can safely carry and thevehicle's tire size. The proper tire pressure for yourvehicle is referred to as the 'recommended cold inflationpressure'. Tire pressure should always be measuredwhen the tire is 'cold' to get an accurate measurement.A cold tire is one that hasn't been driven on for at least 3(three) hours. As you drive, your tires get warmercausing the air pressure within the tire to increase.Frame and Frame MaintenancePeriodic maintenance of the frame includes removingrust and touching up the paint (every 6 months). This willensure your Ice Castle trailer lasts for years.8

Proper Loading and Balancing of TrailerNOTICE: Your tow vehicle and tow vehicles hitch also havea maximum towing capacity and a maximum tongue weightcapacity. Be sure that you do not exceed these weights!FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY CAUSESERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH, CAN CREATEUNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS, AND / OR CAUSEDAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE AND / OR YOUR ICE CASTEFISH HOUSE / RV.NEVER EXCEED THE GVWR, FOR YOUR TOW VEHICLE, YOURLOADED ICE CASTLE FISH HOUSE’S FRAME, AXLE(S), WHEELSOR TIRE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MAXLOAD WEIGHT (GVWR).Determining the weight of a vehicle includes more thanunderstanding the load limits of the tires. A weightcertification label, located on the forward half of the road sideof the unit, will indicate the gross axle weight (GAWR) and thegross vehicle weight (GVWR). This is the most weight thefully loaded vehicle can weigh. If there are multiple axles, the GAWR of each axle will be provided.GAWR (Gross Axle Weight) PLUS ( ) Tongue Weight EQUALS ( )GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight)GAWR - (Gross Axle Weight Rating) is the allowable weight, including cargo that can be safely supported by each axle.GVWR - (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is the GAWR TongueWeight and is the maximum allowable weight of the fullyloaded trailer.Look in your Yellow Pages or the internet for truck stops, gravel pits, storage companies or recycling facilities to findcertified scales. Call in advance to determine if they offerpublic weighing service, their fees and hours of operation.TOUNGUE WEIGHTTongue Weight is the weight of the tongue as it bearsdown on the hitch of the towing vehicle. It is importantto note that the tongue weight will be added to the rearaxle weight of the tow vehicle and will reduce the frontaxle weight of the tow vehicle.Tongue weight should be determined with the RV fullyloaded as it would be for travel.Tongue weight will change when you load and how youload your Fish House.Tongue and Trailer weight and loading will directly affectthe handling of your tow vehicle.DO NOT OVERLOAD YOUR ICE CASTLE FISH HOUSE.DO NOT assume that you can fill all the water and holdingtanks and all storage areas and still be within the GVWR.THERE IS A LIMIT TO HOW MUCH WEIGHT and WHERETHAT WEIGHT CAN BE PLACED IN YOUR FISH HOUSE ANDSTILL OPERATE IT SAFELY ON THE ROAD AND NOTDAMAGE THE TRAILER OR TOW VEHICLE.You are towing a trailer, remember that some of the weightof the loaded trailer is transferred to the towing vehicle viathe trailer’s hitch (tongue weight of trailer). Proper loading& balancing of your Fish House is imperative to the safeoperation of your tow vehicle!NOTICE: Excessive, Not Enough or Negative tongueweight can cause dangerous adverse conditions in thetow vehicle, including, but not limited to, over ornegative weight for tow vehicles rear axle, underweightfor tow vehicles front axle, and could lead to unstabledriving conditions of the tow vehicle MAKING ITDANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE TOW VEHICLE AND TOWYOUR FISH HOUSE!!WHEN ESTABLISHING THE CARGO CAPACITY, WEIGH YOUREMPTY FISH HOUSE WITH THE FRESH WATER AND WASTEWATER HOLDING TANKS AS EMPTY AS POSSIBLE, LP TANKSFULL, AND NOTHING IN THE TRAILER (DO NOT PUT YOURPERSONAL BELONGINGS OR ALLOW ANYONE TO BE IN THEYOUR EMPTY CASTLE FISH HOUSE WHEN WEIGHING THEUNIT).UVW – (Unloaded Vehicle Weight) is the weight of thetrailer as manufactured at the factory. It includes thecomplete weight of the trailer axle(s), tires and thetongue. If applicable, it also includes full fluids includingLP tanks, and hydraulic pump fluids. UVW does notinclude the weight of full fresh water tanks, full holdingtanks or whatever personal items you put inside.CAR
