Lack of class participation and more thanthree unexcused absences is considered excessive and may be reflected in the final grade (see noteunder GRADES later in the syllabus). “Attendance” is recorded as participation on the courseassignments. If you have what the professor deems to be, an excessive lack of assignmentparticipation at week 6 in the semester, you will be administratively withdrawn from the course.DEPORTMENT/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTGood and professional behavior is expected in this and all business courses and your grade may beaffected due to, but not limited to, misuse of technology (e.g. texting, browsing internet, phoneringing/vibrating, etc.) during class time, lack of respect for each other and/or the professor, poorlyworded or rude emails, excessive abscesses (more than 3), tardiness, lack of class participation, lack ofparticipation in team activities, leaving class early without notification to professor, etc. – this is at thediscretion of the professor (see note for GRADES later in syllabus).HOMEWORKHomework assignments are to ensure that you are comprehending current material being covered. Youwill have, in general, a short homework assignment after each class period. This is to ensure that youreview what was done in class that day to help solidify the material in your brain (this is a good habit toform in ALL of your courses whether assigned in this method or not). You may work on the homework atdifferent times (the assignment does not have to be completed in one sitting) and you can work/reworkeach exercise/problem as many times as needed to fully grasp the material up to the due date/time of theassignment (i.e. thereby improving your score as well) – Therefore, you should work on homeworkassignments IN ADVANCE of the due date! The homework assignments are a tool to allow you thePage 2 of 9

opportunity for more practice of the concepts in the chapter and those covered in class. Workingdiligently and fully understanding the homework assignments will be a good first step in preparation forupcoming exams. You should NOT fully rely on the homework as your only preparation for theexams.QUIZZESYou will be tasked with multiple quizzes this term. The syllabus quiz will cover the syllabus andrequirements of the course. You will be given one hour to complete the quiz which must be completed by11:59pm CST on the first day of classes (in Connect via BlackBoard – you must complete the quiz in onesitting – i.e. once you start the quiz you must complete it prior to logging out – there is NO secondattempt on this quiz). If you are not registered for class or do not have appropriate technology to take thequiz you will not be allowed to make up the quiz and you will receive a grade of 0. The team quizzes willbe completed during class on Connect (accessible via BlackBoard) as denoted in the course calendar andwill cover each module (teams will be assigned by the professor); each student needs to have access toBlackBoard/Connect during Team Quiz days as each student is required to submit the quiz by 11:59pmthat day (each student will submit the quiz for grading and is responsible for having compatibletechnology in class to begin the quiz – students who do not have appropriate technology during class orwho are absent on team quiz days will be required to work on their own and complete the quiz by11:59pm on the scheduled team quiz day per the course calendar!). Team quizzes may be attempted anunlimited amount of times up until the due date/time per the course calendar. However, please be awarethat your final attempt WILL be your grade!!EXAMSExams will be periodically given during scheduled class time. It is my intention that exams will beadministered online during the scheduled class period per the course calendar. We will not meet duringthe regularly scheduled class time covered by an allotted exam due to class-time constraints. You need tohave access to a reliable laptop or tablet that is compatible with Connect – accessible via BlackBoard (itis your responsibility to ensure compatibility PRIOR to taking the exams). You will NOT be allowed totake the exam except during the scheduled time unless prior accommodations have been made (notowning a laptop or tablet is not an excuse – laptops and tablets are available for checkout in the libraryand you have access to computer labs on campus as well). You will be given 2 hours to complete theonline exam over a 3-day period as outlined in the course calendar – once you start the exam you mustfinish it in that sitting (do not log out, you will NOT be allowed to log back into the exam).Exams are NOT intended to be identical to homework assignments; students are expected to take whatyou have learned and apply that knowledge to new and different situationsExtra CreditThere will be a few opportunities for extra credit during the semester. You will be notified in advance, this will not lower your grade and the amount of points are my discretion.Page 3 of 9
