Immaculate Conception, Saint Mary & Saint PatrickSt. Mary’s to Host CommunityBlood Drive on June 25Summer is a time for the days that never end —time to watch fireworks, have a picnic and rootfor the home team. While many people are havingfun making summer memories, hospital patientsare counting on volunteer donors to make time togive blood so they can continue making their ownmemories.Historically, during the summer months of June,July and August, about two fewer donors giveblood at each American RedCross blood drive than whatpatients need. Aroundsummer holidays, donationstend to drop even more. This seasonal challenge canbe overcome, however, twogenerous donors at a time. The RedCross asks those eligible to help ensurean efficient supply of lifesaving bloodis available this summer by makingan appointment to donate. Blooddonors and recipients alike are alsoencouraged to share their summerstories at redcrossblood.org.You’re invited to schedule an appointment at theAmerican Red Cross Community Blood Drive atSt. Mary’s Parish Center on Wednesday, June 25thfrom 11:00 AM until 5:30 PM. Call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org. All bloodtypes are needed to ensure a reliable supply forpatients. A blood donor card or driver’s licenseor two other forms of identification are requiredat check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age(16 with parental consent in some states), weighat least 110 pounds and are ingenerally good health maybe eligible to donate blood.High school students andother donors 18 years ofage and younger also haveto meet certain height andweight requirements.Volunteers will be servingroot beer floats for all toenjoy. Help me to guide them well and to pray for them deeply.Open their hearts to your Word that they may know the sound of your voicein a world filled with distractions. May they hear your call to live lives of Christian service. If you are calling my children to a life of Church ministry,my prayer is that your call will be steady and irresistible.Grant me, too, a generous heart to open my arms one day to give them to your service.May your tender care keep my children safe, especially as they discern their vocations in life.Loving God, what I ask for my children, I ask for all children; help them to knowyour presence at all times and to be open to the promptings of your Spiritwho is one with you and your Son now and forever. Amen.
