According to data from the US Safety Commission, more than 2.1million people were treated for ladder accidents in hospitalemergency rooms between 1990 and 2005.Don’t be a statisticWE’VE GOT YOU COVEREDSimply put, rain gutters are the water management system for your home. They are necessary in order to protect your home from its worstenemy Water. Not having gutters, or worse having clogged gutters thatdirect water where it does not belong can result in costly repairs. Asuncontrolled rain water pours directly from the roof to the ground it causeserosion, weakens the foundation, and can lead to cracks in the drywalland wet basements or crawl spaces. Clogged gutters can also lead to:siding damage, wood rot, pest and critter infestation, paint damage, roofdamage, fire hazards, icy walkways in the winter, and more SIMPLIFY YOUR GUTTER MAINTENANCE .ELIMITATE THE THREAT WITH STANDARDGUTTER GUARD.For more information visit us online at: www.standardgutterguard.com

SIMPLIFYDesignStandard Gutter Guard is a fourth generation product designed and manufactured inWashington State. Through years of development, testing, and proving, this designbecame one of the most easily installed, functional, and affordable stainless steelgutter guards on the market today. This process involved the gathering of informationfrom hundreds of customers that have used our earlier products and then allowed us toapply some of those ideas to help make this new product the best on the market. This versatility of this product to work with so many different styles and sizes ofgutters and roofs hasn’t been attempted with a stainless steel product. A key feature isthe flexible, yet highly durable aluminum body that installs less than a ¼” recessedbelow the lip of the gutter. This almost invisible, non intrusive design allows it tofunction in even the hardest of rain storms.

How Standard Gutter Guard is DifferentMaterial:The base of Standard Gutter Guard is comprised of .019”aluminum supplied from Alsco Metals Corporation and ismade of 92.08% recycled aluminum. It is made from thesame material as downspouts and has the samemanufacturer material warranty. The stainless steel screen is purchased from McNicholsCompany in Washington State. The steel mesh iscomprised of a 304 alloy, square weave, 30 mesh, .012”wire, and with .0213” openings. Essentially, this screenwas specifically chosen because the holes are smallenough to keep out roof granules, pine needles, and anylarger debris from entering the gutters. However, theholes are large enough to allow pollen and bio-organicmaterial to pass through and flush out the gutter system.Construction:Standard Gutter Guard is produced using the roll formingmethod. Roll forming is ideal for producing constantprofile parts with long lengths and a consistent outcome. The stainless steel screen is held in place to the solidaluminum substrate using pittsburgh seams. There is noglue, pins, or caulking used in the production of StandardGutterAvoidCloggedGutters!

The Pitfalls of Open GuttersThe upkeep and maintenance involved with homeownership can be daunting. But the results from failing todo so can be dangerous and costly. Gutters are designed tocontrol the flow of water from the roof and unfortunatelydebris in gutters is the primary reason for the gutter systemto fail. The regular chore of climbing a ladder andscooping out the muck in gutters is a mandatory task andfailing to do so can result in a long list of potential hazardsto include: Foundation settlingCracks in the drywallSiding damageLandscapeerosionWood rotPest and critterinfestationsFire HazardsPaint DamageRoof DamageWater RunoffWalkway icehazards in thewinterAccording to data from theUS Safety Commission, more than 2.1 millionpeople were treated forladder accidents in hospitalemergency rooms between1990 and 2005

Standard Gutter GuardInstallation of Standard Gutter Guard1. 1. If not installing on new gutters, clean existing gutters andensure downspouts are functioning properly.2. Begin installing by placing Standard Gutter Guard on top of thegutter with the vertical flange against the fascia and behind thedrip edge if possible. For best function, it should lay flat and level.Fasten Standard Gutter Guard to the gutter through the top lipevery 2 (two) feet or as needed.(Figure 1)3. To support the back of Standard Gutter Guard, it is recommendedfor best application to be installed on top of hangers spaced everytwo (2) feet. At times where there is not a hanger nearby, a screwcan be applied through the back of the vertical flange into thefascia board (do not over tightened) to ensure the guard is level(Figure 1).4. To adjoin two pieces together, make a cut ½” on the front lip ofthe guard as well as the back flange and removal all materialexcept for the flatten pan and screen. (Figure 2) This ½” piece isthen placed under or over the next or preceding piece, dependingon where the hanger is, to support and stabilize the other piece ofguard. (Figure 3)(Figure 2)5. At the end of a run, make a cut on the guard to ensure it is insidethe endcap by approximately ¼” to ensure water does not flowover the endcap.(Figure 3)Installation of Outside Corners1. Measure and mark a 45 angle from the outside edge of the frontof the screen on the guard toward the back. Using tin snips, cutalong the line drawn and then cut and remove one (1) inch of thevertical flange (Figure 4).2. When installed, a ½” to 1” overlap should exist. Place screws one(1) inch from the end to secure the guard, as well as one screwthrough the overlap (Figure 5).(Figure 4)

Standard Gutter GuardInstallation of Inside Corner1. Mark the guard where the front side of the opposite gutterintersects Standard Gutter Guard, this is typically four (4) incheson a 5K gutter and five (5) inches on a 6K gutter (Figure 1) .2. Make a 45 cut using tin snips from the mark to the back of theguard. Then cut the front lip of the guard an additional one (1)inch from the corner (Figure 2).(Figure 1)3. Using hand breaks, vend the louvers under the screen down at a90 angle. This bend should be one (1) inch deep (Figure 3).Alternatively, the louvers can be cut and removed from below thescreen for two (2) to three (3) inches from the edge of the screen. The amount of louvers removed or bent depends on the situationand amount of water.4. Install the two corners pieces with one (1) inch overlap. A screwin the back flange of the lower piece may be necessary to supportthe corner. A screw should be placed in the lip of the guardapproximately one (1) inch from the inside corner to fasten thecorner to the gutter (Figure 4).Important Note: In high flow areas, a diverter may be necessary toprevent overflows. It must be installed on top of the surface behindthe front lip. Whenever possible, any downspout from an upper roofmust be directly tied into a lower gutter. If this is not possible, adiverter/deflector may be necessary.(Figure 2)(Figure 3)(Figure 4)
