20 YEAR NOE INFORMATION

20 year letters are ran around the 15th of each month, they areprinted for the previous month (ie January letters are printed inFebruary) They are sent out certified mail, so they require a signature upondelivery. If a SM wants to retire right after they hit 20 years, the unit canrequest a Creditable Service Memorandum to be included in theretirement packet request, in lieu of the 20 year letter. (In this case, their 20 year letter would be mailed out the month after theyactually hit 20 years of service.) Deployed service members will receive their NOE upon REFRAD

RCSBP’s are sent out with the 20 year letters. If the SMdoesn’t return the RCBSP within 90 days of receipt, we willdo an automatic election based on their dependents statusin DEERS. The best method of returning the RCSBP is throughtheir unit, so the unit can submit it to my RPAM container iniPERMS and I can get it coded in IPPSA. If they send it in themail and we do not receive it within the allotted time frame,an auto-election will be done. 20 year letters are also put in the SM’s iPERMS record. It isrecommended that they download their iPERMS files to adisc before they are discharged.
