The Tigers scored 30 consecutivepoints to break away from the Crusaders.The Tigers totaled 475 yards of offense toCapital’s 267. Jimmy Dehnke led the rushingattack with 67 yards on 17 carries, while ReedFlorence completed 17 of 30 passes for 320 yardsand earned NCAC Offensive Player of the Weekhonors. He tossed two touchdowns, but was intercepted three times in the win. Florence’s topreceiver was Brendon Cunningham who hauledin six passes for 107 yards and a score.Defensively, Evan Killilea totaled nine tacklesincluding two for loss and a forced fumble. NickGibson added seven stops, while Victor Banjoblocked a punt which Ethan Sharpin recoveredfor a touchdown.Wittenberg, the wins leader among DivisionIII schools with 708, entered the season pickedsecond in the NCAC preseason coaches’ poll.DEPAUW UPDATEPicked by the North Coast Athletic Conference coaches to finish third in their inauguralseason of NCAC play, the Tigers return 36lettermen including 12 starters.Visiting St. Olaf outscored DePauw 24-3 overthe final three quarters to take the win in lastweek’s opener. Justin Murray, the first DePauwfreshman to start at quarterback in the seasonopener since 1978, completed 18 of 35 passes for170 yards. Taylor Wagner grabbed seven passesfor 72 yards and totaled 179 all-purpose yardsafter finishing with 107 yards in returns. JacksonKirtley caught five passes and the Tigers’ lonetouchdown. Amen Galley made his first collegiatestart at tailback and totaled 42 rushing yards in11 tries.Jake Konovsky and J.D. Robinson each recorded eight tackles, while Konovsky led with3.0 tackles for loss of which 1.5 were sacks.
