Culinary Arts OccupationsLabor Market Information ReportMission CollegePrepared by the San Francisco Bay Center of Excellencefor Labor Market ResearchDecember 2020RecommendationBased on all available data, there appears to be an undersupply of Culinary Arts workers compared to the demandfor this cluster of occupations in the Bay Region and in the Silicon Valley Sub-Region (Santa Clara County). There is aprojected annual gap of about 11,033 students in the Bay Region and 2,732 students in the Silicon Valley Sub-Region.IntroductionThis report also provides student outcomes data on employment and earnings for TOP 1306.30-Culinary Artsprograms in the state and region. It is recommended that these data be reviewed to better understand how outcomesfor students taking courses on this TOP code compare to potentially similar programs at colleges in the state andregion, as well as to outcomes across all CTE programs at Mission College and in the region.This report profiles Culinary Arts Occupations in the 12 county Bay Region and in the Silicon Valley Sub-Region for aproposed new program at Mission College. Chefs and Head Cooks (35-1011): Direct and may participate in the preparation, seasoning, and cooking ofsalads, soups, fish, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foods.
