BusinessMobil Oil 2012Annual General MeetingThe 34th Annual General Meeting of MobilOil Nigeria held earlier this year in Lagos.The company Chairman and ManagingDirector, Adetunji Oyebanji addressedseveral company stakeholders on MON'sperformance, as well as the outlook for thedownstream industry.With a turnover of N62.1 billion, MobilOil Nigeria made an after tax profit of N3.8billion in 2011, translating to an increase inturnover of 6% and 3% decrease in profitafter tax when compared with theCompany's 2010 performance.Speaking on industry challenges,Adetunji explained that gasoline volumeswere affected by supply disruptions to retailoutlets in some parts of the country andincreased entrants in the market. The MONChairman reiteratedthat margins forgasoline and kerosenewere regulated with noincrease being granted for several years.“The combined impact of thin marginsand increased operating expenses as aresult of inflation means that these productlines were barely profitable” he noted.He advised that as long as theseproducts continued to be regulated, theauthorities would need to develop a marginreview process if the industry is to continueto be viable and attract investments.He said the 2011 financial yearpresented a difficult operating environmentin many respects, noting that it was anelection year and political activities took thecentre stage.Scenes from Mobil Oil Nigeria plc.recently held 34th Annual GeneralMeeting“Economically, Nigeria made progresswith reforms that delivered strong gains. Governor of Akwa Ibom CommissionsMulti-billion Naira MPN Office Extensionin QIT Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of the Nigerian National PetroleumCorporation (NNPC)/MPN Joint Venture (JV) has asserted its presence inAkwa-Ibom State with the recent construction of a multi-billion naira officecomplex extension in Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT) which, complements existingfacilities at its operational headquarters in the Ibeno Local Government Area ofthe State.News3

The newly built office complex represents the commitment of theNNPC/MPN JV to expanding its operations in Akwa Ibom state The project provides a significant increase in working capacity forMPN in the JV field The office extension is part of the QIT Masterplan Expansionproject, which will involve the construction of more residential andoffice buildings The construction involved a high level of community integration,engaging about 150 community youths The project was completed with zero loss time injurySpeaking during the commissioning eventrecently, the Chairman/Managing Directorof Mobil Producing Nigeria, Mr. Mark R.Ward said the office extension facility wasonly a preliminary part of the NNPC/MPNJoint Venture Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT)Master Plan Project.“The commissioning of this fullyfunctional and modern 300-space officecomplex is an attestation to thecommitment of the NNPC/MPN JV tostrengthening and expanding ouroperations in Akwa Ibom State. ChiefAkpabio pointedly mentioned that theState owed its 13 percent derivation fundfrom the Federal Government due mainlyto the operations of the NNPC/MPN JointVenture which is aiding the StateGovernment in its transformation agenda.“There is no way MPN will be able todo more for Akwa Ibom State if thecompany is shut down or its operationsare impeded. The contract for the officeextension was awarded in June 2009 toJulius Berger Nigeria and completed in

February 2012. During the construction ofthe office extension, there was a highlevel of community integration such as theengagement of about 150 youths from thecommunity as well as other local contentcomponents. Members of the MON management team with some auto technicians.bonds withAuto TechniciansMON also continued to build on a longand fruitful relationship with its customersby facilitating the 9th Auto TechnicianWorkshop and Exhibition in May, 2012.Organized by the Lagos State Chapterof the National Automotive TechniciansAssociation (NATA) with over 3, 000members in attendance, the exhibitionprovided a platform for the technicians tointeract with the country's leading lubricantmanufacturer, Mobil Oil.NATA's relationship with MON hadgrown over the years with the MobilMechanic Training (MMT), a scheme thathas produced over 60,000 lubricationtrained mechanics and in turn serves asone of the marketing strategies for MobilPassenger Vehicle Lubricants (PVL)lubricants with Mobil 1 as the focal point.Executive Director MON, AlastairMacNaughton was present at the workshopwith other members of the managementteam including Abiodun M. 7-INAGHA Moves Into MPN FieldMobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) andGlobestar Engineering Company NigeriaLimited (subsidiary of Subsea 7)demonstrated their commitment to thecontinued development of Nigerian Oil & GasIndustry with the mobilization of Globestar'snewly constructed Class 320 Jack-upConstruction Barge, “7-Inagha” into the MPNfield.The deployment of 7-Inagha underpinsthe strategic relationship between MPN andGlobestar for the execution of major offshoreprojects in Nigeria for many years to come.7-Inagha has two 290 tonne cranes,accommodation for 150 personnel, a helidecksuitable for MPN helicopters, can jack up in75 meters of water and can self-propel itselfto other work sites without the assistance oftugs. This makes it the ideal constructionvessel for work in offshore Nigeria both inthe wet and dry seasons.The 7-Inagha initially mobilized for theinstallation of Topsides facilities on Oso RDplatform under Oso RE / CondensatePipelines Replacement Project. ExxonMobil Nigeria affiliateslaunch new Engagement Initiative“Project Care”Project Care is a series of integrated engagements, advertising andMark Ward addresses employees at the forumcommunication programmes initiated in order to further positionExxonMobil as the most respected international oil and gas company inNigeria. This initiative will utilize a series of communications, includingemployee memos, newspaper opinion editorials (opeds), adverts andvarious signage, as well as speaking opportunities at variousengagements to periodically inform and educate the public, our businesscontacts and the workforce on vital business issues relating to the oil andgas industry, especially our companies' contributions to the nationaleconomy, communities and the industry in Nigeria.ExxonMobil affiliates in Nigeria haveunveiled a stakeholder engagement initiativeunder the in-house name “Project Care”. It’san integrated engagement andcommunication programme which seeksmutually beneficial platforms for briefing keystakeholders about ExxonMobil affiliates'activities in Nigeria.The initiative, which was strategicallyconceptualized to inform stakeholder opinionabout the company's operations in thecountry, was recently launched in Eket,Lagos and Abuja.Speaking at the employee forum tounveil the initiative in Lagos, LeadCountry Manager, Mark Ward stated thatit was imperative for all staff to be fullyengaged in the perception changinginitiative as they are the Company's firstcontact with the teeming public.

“Every staff is an ambassador for theCompany. We should add value andunderscore the proposition of positivestakeholder engagement wherever we mayfind ourselves,” he said.“Out there, there are lots ofmisconceptions about the business.
