Head CoachCyndee BennettCyndee Bennett enters her fifth season as head coach ofthe powerhouse Bruin Softball program. Prior to becominghead coach, Bennett spent six seasons as an assistant withthe program, primarily focusing on the Bruin pitching staff.Last season, the Bruins racked up a stellar 48-9 overall record resulting in a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC)Championship and a Region 18 Championship. Last season,on April 8th the Bruins were named the #1 team in the nationwhich they held onto through the final poll of the season. SaltLake clinched a Nationals birth, but fell to Temple College toend their season.For their performance on the field, seven Bruins weretabbed as Region 18 selections including five first team selections in KyRae Kogianes, Riana Splinter, Baylee Reeves, RaeGall, and Megan Reed and two second team selections KarlyBunderson and Corinne Cleverly. On top of these accoladesCoach Bennett was named the Region 18 Coach of the Year.Her crew achieved the Region 18 Player of the Year in KyRaeKogianes and Pitcher of the Year in Baylee Reeves. She also coached at ViewmontHigh School from 1998-2003.Cyndee was named Coach of the Year by the Utah HighSchool Softball Coaches Association in 2002, 2003 and in2010. She also coached at the high school level in Las Vegas,NV at Rancho High School from 2004-05 and at her alma-mater Glendale High School in Glendale, CA in 2006 and 2007.Cyndee has also coached the likes of NJCAA First Team AllAmerican Ariel Zimmerman, a standout pitcher who moved onto Southern Utah University. Several more NJCAA All-Americans have played under Coach Bennett, including shortstopMaddy Woodard (Second Team NJCAA All-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team 2013), outfielder Malia Campos(NJCAA First Team All-American 2012, NJCAA Second TeamAll-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team, NJCAA MostOutstanding Offensive Player 2013), and Cyd Allen (DiamondSports Catcher of the Year, NJCAA First Team All-American2010) among many others.Bennett played softball collegiately at the University ofUtah, where she still owns several records that stand today.She was twice selected as an All-Conference player and hailsfrom Glendale, CA.6

Assistant CoachTara BendtCoach Tara Bendt enters her fifth season as the lead assistant coach for the nationally-renowned SLCC Softball program. Last season, she helped Head Coach Cyndee Bennettand the SLCC softball team to a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Region 18 Championship with a 48-9 overall record. Salt Lake gained a Nationals birth and she coachedtwo All-Americans from the squad. Coach Bendt was namedthe 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NJCAA Assistant Coach of the Year.Prior to coming to SLCC, Coach Bendt served as an assistant coach at Utah Valley University where she helped leadthe Wolverines to a third place finish in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference with the most wins in school history with a35-20 overall record in 2013.She worked as a volunteer assistant at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) in the spring of 2012 and was a teammanager for University of Utah Softball in 2010-11.Tara began her collegiate playing career at SLCC where she earned SWAC Player of the Year honors as an outfielder and was named an NJCAA First Team All-American in 2008. Coach Bendt was a Distinguished AcademicAll-American at SLCC as well.She then transferred to UNLV and led the Rebels in batting average in each of her two seasons hitting .379 as ajunior in 2009 and closed out her collegiate campaign by hiting .382. For her performance, Bendt was named a FirstTeam All-Mountain West Conference player in 2010 and was a two-time all-conference scholar athlete.Bendt worked under Bennett as an assistant coach at Olympus High School from 2011-13. In addition to her dutieson the Bruin Softball coaching staff, Coach Bendt is heavily involved in athletics promotions for SLCC.She is a native of South Dakota and currently resides in South Jordan, UT.Assistant CoachesJack McAfee, Bob Shober7
