With a 2.2 cubic foot firebox capacityand 2.6 grams per hour particulate emission, youcan be proud to join the Hearthstone family with ourPremier Soapstone Wood Burning Stove. The frontand the side doors, along with the generous depthallow for loading of wood up to 21 inches long!Your purchase ensures years of clean, comfortableheat with minimal maintenance. Its purposeis to familiarize you with your stove's safeinstallation, proper break-in, operation andmaintenance. It contains information that will beuseful to you now, and in years to come, so keep ithandy and refer to it as needed.Use these instructions as well as national, state, andlocal building codes to install your stove. Be sure tomaintain the designated stovepipe and stoveclearances to walls, ceilings, hearth, and othercombustible surfaces. This will help reduce the riskof fire. Failure to follow these instructions can resultin property damage, bodily injury, and even death.Locate your stove in a safe, convenient, open area;away from traffic flow, doors, and hallways; and neara chimney and chimney connector. Review theproper clearance measurements from combustiblesurfaces. You can safely reduce required clearancesin most cases by using the, optional, rear heatshield, and also with a special connector pipe andspecial wall coverings as specified by this manual,the NFPA 211 codes, and your local authoritieshaving jurisdiction.Keep furniture, drapes, curtains, wood, paper, andother combustibles far away from the stove. Neverinstall the stove in a location where gasoline,kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid or other flammableliquids are used or stored.Locate the stove centrally in your living area to allowthe heat to travel naturally to distant rooms. Werecommend that you do not locate your stove in anuninsulated basement.The amount of radiantenergy required to heat concrete basement walls isso great that most of the usable heat is absorbed bythem and lost.SAFETY NOTICE: A HOUSE FIRE MAY RESULT IFTHIS STOVE IS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY.FOR YOUR SAFETY, CAREFULLY FOLLOW THEINSTALLATION DIRECTIONS. Safety & Good PracticesKeep the ash pan tray fully inserted and the ashdoor closed tightly.Inspect the stovepipe, chimney connector andchimney, as recommended.CODESWhen you install your Heritage wood stove, it isimperative that you adhere to all local codes, whichcan be obtained from either of the following twoNational sources:Follow these safety precautions:Never modify this stove in any way, especiallythe primary air control system.Never burn kiln dried wood, painted or treatedwood, solvents, trash, plywood, colored orglossy paper, artificial logs, cardboard, coal,garbage or driftwood. Especially, do not burncoal in this stove.Never use gasoline type fuel, kerosene,charcoal lighter fluid, or other liquid fuels or solidfire starters to start or invigorate the fire. Thesefuels can possibly generate carbon monoxide,which can deplete the supply of oxygen. Keepall such materials away from the stove.Never use the stove if the ash pan door is open,damaged, not in place, or not sealing.Never use a wood grate or other device toelevate the fire.Do Not allow wood to rest against or otherwisecome in contact with the glass when the door isclosed.Do Not slam the door or use the door to forcewood in to the stove.Never over-fire your stove. Higher efficiencies andlower emissions result when burning air-dried,seasoned wood, as compared to green orfreshly cut wood.Use caution when loading firewood into a hotstove.Keep the side and front doors closed at all timesexcept when loading wood.Other safety guidelinesHearthstone Quality Home Heating Products, Inc. As a general rule, keep all movable combustibleitems such as furniture, drapes, clothing, andother items, at least 36" (0.92 m) from the stove.Install a good smoke detector, preferably in anarea away from your wood stove.Keep a fire extinguisher handy. We recommendthe type rated "A B C."Dispose of ashes properly. (See page 22)Keep children and pets away from the stove;they could be burned by touching a hot stove.Clean your chimney system as needed.
