1Caldwell Community College and Technical InstituteGeneral Admission Requirements forLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN) toAssociate Degree Nursing (ADN) ProgramCompletion of admission requirements must be met to be considered and eligible to compete foracceptance to the 2022 LPN to ADN bridge program.Minimum admissions requirements and deadlines are outlined in this document based upon length of LPNlicensure. Applicants meeting all admission requirements by the published deadlines are eligible tocompete for entry to the summer 2022 transition course and progress to the 4th and 5th semesters of the ADNprogram.Note: Only one prior entry/admittance to or attempt of any nursing program without successful programcompletion is allowed in order to be an eligible applicant. If an applicant exceeds this limit, he/she maysubmit a written appeal to the director of nursing for further consideration and determination of applicationeligibility by a committee.Completers of the Associate Degree in Nursing (A45110TO) program will graduate in May 2023.GENERAL INFORMATIONThe Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Associate Degree Nursing program is available atboth the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. The admission criterion for the program satisfies requirements atboth campuses. The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides individuals with the knowledge and skills toprovide nursing care to patients and groups of patients throughout the lifespan and in a variety of settings.Graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN),which is required for practice as a Registered Nurse. Employment opportunities include a wide variety ofhealth care settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, physicians’ offices, industry, andcommunity health agencies.APPLICATION/ADMISSIONS PROCESSCaldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s mission and philosophy includes the process to establishfair and equitable student guidelines for admission and progression. It is the nursing applicant’s responsibility toensure that all requirements are met by the established deadlines. Program deadlines, guidelines, and policiesapply equally to all students.Clinical space determines the availability of seating for the LPN to ADN program each year. CCC&TI isapproved to admit a limited number of students per year and utilizes a competitive-based admission process.Applicants who meet all admissions requirements by the specified deadline(s) based upon length of LPNlicensure are ranked according to competitive criteria specified in this document. The students with the highestaccumulated point totals are admitted into the summer transition course.

2Applicants obtaining LPN licensure between 9/15/21 and 2/15/22Meet the following 8 admission requirements by February 15, 2022:1. GPA requirement – Program GPA must be 2.5 or higher as of the deadline for the current applicationperiod. Program GPA is defined as any and all nursing program related general education coursework aswell as completed at CCC&TI or other accredited institutions. Developmental level English, reading,math, and algebra courses are NOT included in this calculation.2. Licensure - Must provide current unrestricted licensure documentation as a practical nurse in NC orcompact state from h.aspx and have graduated from aregionally accredited practical nursing program.3. Application – Available online at www.cccti.edu. Applicants must indicate the campus (Caldwell orWatauga) to which they are applying on the college application. Applicants are not allowed to apply toboth campuses.4. Official documentation of high school graduation/high school equivalency - A high school graduateshould request an official transcript to be sent to CCC&TI indicating date of graduation. This isrequired even if the applicant holds a college degree.Applicants with a high school equivalency must provide official documentation to CCC&TI from thegranting institution.Reproduced copies of documents are not acceptable.5. College transcripts - The applicant should request colleges to mail transcripts directly to CCC&TI.If currently enrolled at another college, applicants should request a transcript now and another one at thecompletion of the courses. 52. PN Review Course (optional) – the PN review course is a 3-day workshop which usually takesplace during the first week of December. Applicants are required to attend all 3 days of theworkshop. It is optional for LPNs licensed between 2/15/21 and 9/15/21.3. PN Predictor exam – Take PN comprehensive predictor exam proctored by CCC&TI nursingfaculty. A minimum score of 90% (Probability of Passing the NCLEX) is required. The testing datewill be set for a day and time in February and will be communicated to all applicants having metrequirements 1-6 by the September 15, 2021 deadline. The ATI comprehensive predictor examattempts to predict the probability of passing he NCLEX based upon the score achieved. Forexample, it may state the following prediction:80-7% - 100% (Comprehensive Predictor) 99% (Probability of Passing the NCLEX)78.0% - 80.0% (Comprehensive Predictor) 98% (Probability of Passing the NCLEX)4. 8OVERVIEW OF POINT SYSTEM FORLPN to ADN PROGRAMA point system will be used as an objective means for evaluating nursing applicants. The student must meet alladmissions requirements before they are ranked for admission into the program. Applicants are ranked in orderaccording to the present applicant pool. Admission is then based on the point totals. Acceptance letters will bemailed late February. Course work will begin in the summer semester.Points for grades earned in General Education Courses. Applicants may earn points for the completion ofthe following courses. In order to earn points for general education courses, applicants must have achievedgrades of “C” or higher.
