The purpose of thisunique meeting was to develop strategies to alert andprepare industry constituents for upcoming changesin the allowable level of leadin plumbing products. Thefederal "Reduction of Leadin Drinking Water Act" wassigned into law by PresidentBarack Obama on January 4,2011. The bill becomes effective January 4, 2014.What is the new law?The law reduces the permissible levels of lead in wetted surfaces of faucets, pipesand pipe fittings to 0.25% fromthe previous national standard of 8.0% maximum.
