The GMUMC Church Security plan was publicized in the newsletter and church bulletin on severaloccasions. Security cameras have been checked monthly.The insurance deductible for hail or wind damage is now 50,000. The Trustees have purchaseda 25,000 supplemental insurance rider for wind and hail. They have established a designatedfund for future claims, Insurance Dedicated Reserve, totaling approx. 27,850 on 12/31.The lower hallway of the east building was painted. This was paid for by the daycare.The men’s and women’s restrooms near the Fellowship hall were totally remodeled. The cost wasdonated, and all labor was done by Trustees and church members.Two Grubby Sundays were held. A variety of outdoor and indoor maintenance projects werecompleted on those days and throughout the year.The Peace Pole was repainted, and one panel was replaced.The north steps were repaired by gluing vinyl treads over every step. The deterioration of concreteand metal edge breakage had caused safety issues. All work was done by Trustees and churchmembers.Repair work was done on the evaporative cooler by Trustees.A large cross was installed on the west building, north side. The cost was paid for by memorialsand donations.The upstairs hallways of the west building and adult classroom #403 were carpeted. The cost wasdonated.Blinds were installed on two narthex windows to prevent sun glare off the west building brick. Thissun glare was bothering the choir.Trustees contracted with ACE Radon to determine radon levels in the daycare rooms. JeffersonCounty Health Dept. requires this testing and remedial action if necessary.The Fellowship Hall floor was stripped and waxed.The benches in the columbarium were stained and polyurethane coated.All outside railings and metal doors were painted.Rental contracts for the year include Tiny Hearts Academy, Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra,Lakewood Symphony, Weight Watchers.Trustees contributed labor to Sunday School rooms #206 & #405 remodeling project.The key safes were reorganized and updated to contain only current keys in GMUMC use.GMUMC Trustees 2019: Tom Cummins, Roxanne Penn, Karen Schmoker, Deanna Hanna, Chuck Thorman,John Morrison, Calvin Mukarakate, Sam Moore03

NEWS FROM THE GARDEN“Planting seeds for the future”Jean Arnold, Church and Society – Garden LiaisonThe Vision: Feeding our community. The water is installed, the grubbing is done, and the materials are delivered andwaiting to be installed. After being snowed out on October 27, Denver Urban Gardens has scheduled two workdays for the Community Garden.Our two volunteer days will be Sunday, November 24, 2019 beginning at 11:45 a.m. and Saturday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. Weather permitting, ofcourse. The 10-day forecast for Sunday November 24 shows sunny and mid-50’s. We will be instructed by Nessa with Denver Urban Gardens. DUG willprovide all tools and materials needed to construct the beds. If we finish the work on Sunday (11-24), we will not need the December 7 workday, butwe wanted to get the second day on everyone’s calendar just in case.Any amount of time you can devote to the garden on either Sunday (11-24) or Saturday (12-7) would be appreciated. If you have not ordered a brick, but have been me aning to do so – it’s not too late. Contact Lori Osborn. Fund raising. We have sufficient funds to build the “basic” garden infrastructure. But we need another 20-30,000 to complete the fulldesign. DUG is phasing the build-out over 5 years. Plus, a garden is “forever” fund raising. The Community Brick fund raiser continues.
