Come, let us worship God.Reflection“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” - Matthew 21:9“No human being will either establish or threaten Jesus' kingship. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debtsas we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, forThine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.Confession of SinAll: O King of Glory,we confess that our praise of your majesty has often been faint, our performance as citizens of your kingdom treasonous. For we have surrendered to the enemyby our secret and our known sins.

For our treason you died, Lord Jesus. For our restoration, you rose again.Draw us closer to you in this Holy Week, that our eyes may catch the vision of your tears, and our hearts, the wonder of your grace.By the Holy Spirit's continuing discipline, let us be loyal and loving servants of the King.Praise be to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.[In these quiet moments, we admit to God our sins and doubts, and ask Him by His Holy Spirit to cleanseus, forgive us, redirect our lives, and grant us renewed faith.]Assurance of PardonPsalm 118:4-5Let those who fear the LORD say,“His steadfast love endures forever!”Out of my distress I called to the LORD;The LORD answered me and set me free.Song of ThanksgivingHosannaPraise TeamScripture ReadingMatthew 21:1-17SermonThe Worst Politician EverSong of ResponseI Will Wait For You (Psalm 130)Praise TeamBrooke LigertwoodRev. The Worst Politician EverRev. Matt KuikenMatthew 21:1-1721 Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, andimmediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them tome. 3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will sendthem at once.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,5 “Say to the daughter of Zion,‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey,on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”6The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and thecolt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloakson the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And thecrowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son ofDavid! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in thehighest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who isthis?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”12And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and heoverturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 13 Hesaid to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it aden of robbers.”14And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when thechief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying outin the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant, 16 and they said to him,“Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read,“‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babiesyou have prepared praise’?”17And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there.
