Thank You . . .CSD at WCU Temporary InstructorsThe 1st Annual“Garrett G. Molholt Friend of CSD Award”THANK YOU to the CSD at WCUtemporary instructorswho joined our faculty in Summer Semesterto provide academic and clinical instructionfor our B.A., Certificate, and M.A. students.CSD at WCU is very pleased to announce theestablishment of the “Garrett G. Molholt Friend ofCSD Award.”Mr. Samuel EspositoDr. Kimberly GinsbergMs. Carolyn MacrinaDr. Irene MerendaMs. Colleen ReynoldsMs. Shelly SlottMs. Dianne SpragaleMs. Kathie UscholdMs. Mary WolfeOver the years, many individuals outside theDepartmentofCommunicationSciencesandDisorders have provided valuable contributions to themission of our Department. The CSD faculty decidedthat, while we have expressed our thanks to theseindividuals in many informal ways, the time hasarrived for a more formal expression of appreciation. We thus established the “Friend of CSD Award,” toconsist of a certificate and a coffee table book for therecipient to enjoy. When we started to discuss who the very firstrecipient of the award should be, the choice soonbecame obvious: Dr. Garrett G. Molholt, Professor ofEnglish and Linguistics here at WCU. And, as wereflected on his substantial support of CSD at WCU,we decided to not only present him with this awardbut also to name it in his honor. A plaque to bedisplayed in the lobby of the CSD Department willbear his name (and those of subsequent recipients) asthe first recipient of the “Garrett G. Molholt Friend ofCSD Award.”Dr. Molholt has supported our CSD B.A. andCertificate students as an instructor of ENG/LIN 230,“Introduction to Linguistics.” He has also supportedour CSD M.A. students as a member of M.A. ThesisCommittees. Additionally, he has supported our CSDfaculty as a member of their Department EvaluationCommittees for tenure and/or promotion, as well asfor their 5-year post-tenure review. His classroomobservations of faculty have assisted with theircontinued development as instructors, and his inputinto their scholarly work has assisted with theircontinued development as scholars. His positive, personable interactions have contributed to interdepartmental collaboration on this campus as he hascoordinated the Linguistics Program in the past. Ashe starts to transition into the retirement phase of hislife, we know that his presence on campus will beprofoundly missed by those of us who have beenhonored to know him.Dr. Cheryl Gunter, CSD Department Chairperson, presented this honor – a surprise – to Dr. Molholt atthe start of an “Introduction to Linguistics” class thissummer. His students responded with a very welldeserved sustained round of applause for him.Congratulations and sincere thanks to our very firstrecipient of the “Garrett G. Molholt Friend of CSDAward.”If you wish to send a note of thanks andcongratulations to Dr. Molholt for his work, hiscampus e-mail address is gmolholt@wcupa.edu.
