By writing and publishing a novel in 19 monthlyor 36 weekly installments, Dickens could change his story, shared and shaped by the audience who read it, at anytime, depending on what his readers liked or disliked. And he did. By reading “Great Expectations” (1861),his greatest weekly novel, in part-by-part installments, readers can weave Dickens’s fictional world into theirown real world. As the story and characters develop andchange over 36 weeks, so, too, does the reader’s own life.Readers see the changes in their lives through the lensof the fictional characters’ lives and, therefore, literaturemirrors life.OSHER 532-001 Thursday 1:30-3:00 PMSeptember 22-October 27, 2022Sandy Center 998Discover digital treasures available at The County Librarythat will make a positive difference in your everyday life. From eMagazines with adjustable font sizes to onlineclasses available at any time on your device, libraries aremore than just books, although our eBook collection isincredible.
