Thiswill be revised once more information is available.The Galactic CalendarsDuring the many millennia, people have started counting andrecalculating anew over and over again. Each race, planet orsociety has its own calendar. Therefore; we will only use thecalendars that were used by the majority of the galaxy’s spacetraveling population.Because many other sites (especially the Star Wars Wiki fromWookieepedia), dates are primarily mentioned in BBY and ABY.The Pre-Republic EraThe first notable calendar was used by the free people after thereign of the Rakata Empire. Because of the sudden disappearanceof the Rakata at 500 planets at the same time, the indigenousinhabitants started all a new reckoning, without knowing of otherraces doing the same at the exact same time.13.7 billion years BBYThe universe is formed through the universal event called the BigBang. Galaxies, stellar and globular clusters form out the spatialmiasma of hot gasses and cosmic rays.10 billion years BBYBecause no planet has the same length of day and year, thecalendars became less synchronized. With the adaptation of theRakata hyperdrive engine, systems came relatively closer to oneanother, colonies were established and a standardization of timewas desperately needed. Each civilization wanted their calendarand timetable to be used across the galaxy and chaos arose.The Vordarian Beltway Galaxy, 850 trillion light years away fromour Milky Way Galaxy, planetary systems near the galactic coreare slowly forming. Among the first ones to evolve into fullplanetary star systems is the Coruscant star system.7.5 billion years BBYIn 7,308 BBY, the Galactic Republic introduced a new GalacticStandard Calendar with the foundation of the Galactic Republicand the Jedi Protectorate as the first year. Rather than using aplanet’s length of a day and year, the average bio-clock or naturalcycle of all known sentient beings was used. This resulted in a 24hour day. A year consisted out of 12 cycles. A cycle had 5 weekswhich in its turn had 7 days. Though the Republic’s calendar waswidely used, planet’s which had not been contacted by alien racesstill used their own, somewhat primitive time notification.The first star in the Cularin system, named Morasil, is formed.5 billion years BREKorriban and the Yavin system are formed.3 billion years BBYThe Sharu race begins to evolve in the Rafa system.2 billion years BBYOnly 25,000 years later, a new calendar was being introduced byforce. This was the time of senator Palpatine who declared himselfEmperor and the birth of the Galactic Empire had started. After thefall of Emperor Palpatine, this calendar was kept intact. This wasmostly because Palpatine made sure that every remnant of the OldRepublic was forgotten. Libraries were destroyed, databaseserased, memory banks of droid were swept and Jedi Holocronswhich were found were destroyed.The Oseon system is created.
