Their sons, Patrick and Eugene, grew upin Korea while Dad served as Secondary Principal at Seoul ForeignSchool. Jon arrived at Shanghai American school in the 2005 academicyear and “raised” the Middle/High school to a well-respected, IB/APcollege preparatory institution worthy of WASC and IBOReauthorization accolades. In addition to his principalship, he supportsthe Shanghai American School through service on the Human ResourceCommittee, the Strategic Planning Curriculum Action Team, theLanguage Policy Task Force and serves as a liaison to the JinQiao Community Center.Jon has a voracious appetite for literature and enjoys traveling through East Asia and Europe,as well as offering workshops regarding adjustment issues of Asian students attendingInternational Schools. He received his PhD in Early Adolescence and International Educationfrom Walden University. He received his administrative certificate from University ofConnecticut, his M.S. in Education from University of Southern California, and his B.A. fromBridgewater State College in Massachusetts.Jon’s position advocacy for students permeates this seminar, as he encourages an understandingof the students’ perspective and pressures in an international educational setting.
