KCC DirectorJob Description and CompetenciesPosition Overview:The KCC Director is responsible for implementing the Kalamazoo Cultural Center's (KCC) vision, strategicwork plan, Epic Center programming and services, grantmaking, and fundraising activities, as well as theoverall administrative management of the facility and organization.Along with the Board of Directors of the Kalamazoo Cultural Center, the KCC Director serves as KCC'srepresentative in communicating KCC's vision and activities to the broader community. The KCC Directorreports to the ACGK Executive Director. This is a full-time, salaried, FLSA-exempt position. This positionrequires at least 40 hours of work per week with the ability to work more if necessary.Major Tasks Performed (Essential Job Functions)Strategic Activities Collaborate with building partner organizations to develop consistent messaging about the tangibleand intangible value and impact of the Epic Center as a collective positive influence on the arts inour community. Strengthen the brand and visibility of the Epic Center in the community with arts organizations andtheir leaders, business and community groups, foundations, educators, and others. Led the development of an annual work plan for KCC and the Epic Center and oversee long-rangestrategic planning and implementation processes, including stewardship of KCC's human, financial,facility, and technological resources. Ensure strategic management of the Epic Center and the Epic Theatre with the KCC Board ofDirectors.Stakeholder Engagement & Fundraising Maintain positive relationships with local arts, funding, corporate, education, and politicalcommunities.Promote transparency and facilitate ongoing communication among stakeholders.Build organizational capacity, cultivate funders and donors, and pursue private funding support forKCC's grantmaking and other programs and special projects.Ensure the organization's long-term health through creating and maintaining a funding plan thataddresses the financial sustainability and the long-term building maintenance needs.Facility and Venue Management Act as the owner representative for the Kalamazoo Cultural Center, listing Epic Center offices asthe registered agent with the State of MichiganAct as the direct Liaison between the building partners and Lockhart and the Board of DirectorsSupervise the building management /ArtsCouncil2/Shared Documents/ACGK-HR/Job Descriptions/KCC ExecutiveDirector Job Description.docx1

KCC DirectorJob Description and Competencies Provide direct supervision of rental activities in the Epic and all relatedproperties: Develop rental policies/pricing schedules for approval Vetting potential events (rental priority 1 bldg. partner, 2 arts non-profits, 3nonprofits, 4 all others) Manage rental calendar Provide estimate, contract, and invoice management for rental activities Hire and supervise staff to manage rental events Oversee the purchase and maintenance of equipment and goods within the Center Provide routine reporting on finances and usage of the spaceProgram & Grant Management Seek opportunities to develop strategic partnerships and collaborate with arts organizations todeliver relevant and timely programming to diverse regional communities.Manage, evaluate, and oversee ACGK programs, including All Ears Theatre, Art Hop, Concerts inthe Park, and others.Work with the Board of Directors to develop funding criteria, oversee the grantmaking process andcommunicate grantmaking outcomes.Act as Liaison to groups when acting as fiscal sponsor to their project.Governance Manage the activities of the KCC Boards of Directors strategically, including board and subcommittee meetings as necessary.Engage Board members to maximize their participation and contribution toward the organization'ssuccess and growth.Play an active role in the orientation, education, and engagement of new and existing Boardmembers, and develop strategies for effective evaluation, rotation, and celebration of Boardmembers and institutional successes.Prepare written and oral reports for presentation to committees and the Board of Directors.Fiscal & Administrative Provide fiscal and organizational leadership, including guidance to all administrative staff tomaximize effectiveness and productivity.Oversee property manager, vendors, contractors, and others involved in the successful operationsof the Epic Center.Collaborate with the Finance Committee to develop annual budgets and cash-flow projections.Monitor KCC's financial position, make recommendations to the Board of Directors, and/or act asappropriate.Hire, train, supervise administrative staff, mobilize volunteers, and oversee the effective use offinancial and technological resources needed to achieve the organization's goals and ites/ArtsCouncil2/Shared Documents/ACGK-HR/Job Descriptions/KCC ExecutiveDirector Job Description.docx2
