Packing peanuts do notbiodegrade, meaning it will take hundreds of years for them to decompose in a landfill. Methane isover 20x more potent than carbon dioxide and is considered to be a powerful greenhouse gas (GHG). Toeliminate this GHG, we can divert our food waste and give it a new life: compost! Compost can easily bedone in our own backyards and used for growing our own food or plants. To learn how to start your ownbackyard compost, visit www.boonecountyky.org/departments/solid waste/compost.aspx. Small spaceor no backyard?
