Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Paths of PrestigeChoose Your PathTVillainous Prestige Classeshe Pathfinder Roleplaying Game already offersa plethora of exciting character options to helpmake characters unique and f lesh out theirbackstories. With the introduction of archetypes, playerscould explore an astonishing variety of skills and abilitieswhile still staying true to the original class’s intendedrole. With prestige classes, however, already establishedcharacters from various walks of life can use their diversetalents to enter and progress in an entirely unique field ofadventuring. We’ve already presented numerous prestigeclasses in other Pathfinder products (see the OtherPrestige Classes section on page 3), but with this book, wewanted to do something a little different—something tiednot just to the rules, but to the campaign setting itself. With Paths of Prestige, we went through the entire InnerSea region and handpicked 30 of the most intriguing andf lavorful factions, juntos, and sects from both Avistanand Garund (which was no small task!) and designedprestige classes that most accurately depict the f lavorand powers of typical members of these organizations. The prestige classes presented in the following pagesare fully capable of standing on their own in anysetting, but are specif ically intended for players andGMs who want to customize their characters to f it intoa distinctly Inner Sea-f lavored campaign or a Golarionbased character concept. From the learned Magaambyanarcanists of the Mwangi Expanse to Lastwall’s highlydisciplined Knights of Ozem, characters can explore avariety of possible classes that are both mechanicallyinteresting and packed with f lavor. The roads towardthese prestige classes may open up countless adventuringopportunities in and of themselves—after all, the pathsto prestige are fraught with both peril and wonder, andin the end, only the most valiant adventurers prevail intheir pursuit of power. While nearly all of the prestige classes presentedin this book are intended to be usable by any playerseeking to enhance a PC, a few of the more nefariousfactions and groups make for better enemies than allies, particularly those whose class requirements includean evil alignment. Of these dastardly specialists, theAspis agents, Blackf ire Adepts, Daggermark poisoners, and Gray Gardeners are the most obvious choices forvillains, though all of the prestige classes can help a GMsurprise PCs who might not expect their adversariesto be trained shadow court agents from the lightlessrealm of Nidal or renegade shieldmarshals from theGrand Duchy of Alkenstar. While adding prestigeclasses to rank-in-f ile enemies might not be worth theeffort, a reoccurring villain who employs a prestigeclass’s distinctive abilities swiftly becomes all the morememorable. On the other hand, GMs who allow bothgood and evil PCs in their games should feel free toallow their players access to the prestige classes in thisbook typically reserved for enemies; who knows whatkinds of roleplaying opportunities might arise whena benevolent champion of Irori has to team up with acold-blooded winter witch? As with all supplementalmaterial, a player should consult with his GM beforeworking toward a particular prestige class to make surethat class is permitted.CitationsThe prestige classes in Paths of Prestige draw inspirationfrom numerous abilities, feats, spells, and other characteroptions presented in previous Pathf inder products. Some of these features show up in the descriptions of theprestige classes’ abilities, while others are prerequisitesfor the prestige classes themselves. Character optionsfrom other books are denoted using a superscript citation, including the Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player’s Guide (APG),Pathfinder RPG Bestiary ( B1), Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 2 ( B2),Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 3 ( B3), Pathfinder RPG UltimateCombat ( UC), Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Magic ( UM), PathfinderCampaign Setting: The Inner Sea World Guide ( ISWG), andPathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Magic ( ISM). In mostcases, the exact page location of the character option inquestion should be easy to f ind, since most feats, spells, and so on are alphabetized in their own chapters. Forcharacter options that are not located in obvious spots, however, we have included full citations (including pagenumbers) as appropriate. In This BookThe 30 prestige classes in this book are presented inalphabetical order, and each follows an identical format.A full listing of the included prestige classes can befound on the inside front cover. While the format foreach prestige class entry is similar to that of the base PCclasses presented in the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook, afew notable differences set prestige classes apart fromother classes, the most obvious being that a charactermust f irst meet a series of requirements before takinglevels in a prestige class. The full rules for prestigeclasses can be found on page 374 of the Core Rulebook.2

IntroductionSpells per DayPathfinder ChroniclerPathfinder DelverPathfinder SavantRage ProphetRed Mantis AssassinShadowdancerSouldrinkerStalwart DefenderSteel FalconStudent of WarMany prestige classes grant characters additional spells perday, depending on their level in that prestige class. Thisis noted in a separate column in the prestige class’s table, under “Spells per Day.” Unless noted otherwise in the classfeatures section of the prestige class, the spells granted bythese prestige classes adhere to the following rules. At the indicated levels, a member of this prestige classgains new spells per day as if he had also gained a levelin a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding theprestige class. (Unless noted otherwise in the prestigeclass’s table, this spellcasting class can be either arcaneor divine.) He does not, however, gain other benefits ofthat class other than spells per day, spells known (if he isa spontaneous caster), and an increased effective level ofspellcasting. If he had more than one spellcasting classbefore becoming a member of this prestige class, he mustdecide to which class he adds the new level for the purposeof determining spells per day.Other Prestige ClassesThis book presents 30 new prestige classes, yet manymore can be found in other Pathf inder accessories. Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Paths of PrestigeAldori SwordlordIn the northern kingdom of Brevoy, dueling is morethan a fighting style or even an art form—it’s a way oflife. The nobles of this land consider maintaining one’shonor as important as feeding one’s family. Among themost highly respected duelists in this nation are the Aldoriswordlords, who take their name after a man once knownas Baron Sirian First. Long before Issia and Rostland’sannexation by the forces of Choral the Conqueror, Sirianf led the country, shamed by his defeat in a duel with abandit lord. He returned several years later as BaronAldori, and publicly defeated his previous opponent as wellas thousands more challengers, quickly becoming knownthroughout the land as the “Sword Baron.” It was with thisprestige and renown that Sirian established the Aldorischool of sword fighting, teaching his art to dedicatedpupils who proved themselves worthy of the name. Aldoriswordlords are highly talented melee combatants, andwhile their true mastery shows itself in dueling situations orwhenever f lashy combat is called for, they can still carry theirweight in more conventional battles. Many of an Aldori swordlord’s abilities rely or build onrules presented in Ultimate Combat, which includes rules forduels. This prestige class also works well in conjunctionwith the Aldori swordlord archetype presented inPathfinder Player Companion: Inner Sea Primer.Hit Die: d10.RequirementsTo qualify to become an Aldori swordlord, a c
