5COVID-19 STATEMENTWe begin this semester in unprecedented and uncertain times. As policies and procedures are still evolving as thestudent handbook is finalized, students are encouraged to reference the following sites for the most currentinformation regarding COVID-19. .htmlThe CON will be following and enforcing the PPE guidance for those students who will be attending classes in person. Inaccordance with PA Department of Health regulations and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control andPrevention (CDC), The Pennsylvania State University has determined that everyone will be required to wear a face maskin university buildings, including classrooms. You MUST wear a mask appropriately (i.e., covering both your mouth andnose) in the building if you are attending class in person.Starting Aug. 10, all Penn State students are asked to complete a daily symptom checker to self-screen for potentialCOVID-19 symptoms before returning to campus. Students enrolled for in-person courses or scheduled to be present aton-campus facilities will need to sign in with their Penn State ID to complete the daily student COVID-19 symptomchecker through the Penn State Go App. It is strongly encouraged that all students complete the symptom checkerevery morning before leaving their homes, riding public transportation, and arriving on campus premises.For those students who are completing labs, clinical hours, or practicum hours, additional screening/testing and PPEmay necessary. For those students completing clinical or practicum hours at an offsite facility, the current minimumPPE guidance must be followed. Additional PPE requirements should be followed. Students should not complete clinicalor practicum hours in sites that do not follow the minimum PPE requirements. Refer to Instruction, Universal Masking,and PPE Requirements. For those students who will be at the Hershey campus, please follow the classroom and PPEguidance issued by the College of Medicine. Please contact your course faculty with questions.The CON will be adding additional compliances for this academic year due to COVID-19. As part of the American DataBank compliance package, all students will be required to complete a COVID Attestation and a COVID ClinicalExperiences Acknowledgement of Risk.The University will conduct surveillance testing of faculty, staff and students on its campuses throughout the semester,testing about 1% of our campus populations (about 700 people) per day. The plan includes random and risk-stratifiedsurveillance testing as well as testing for individuals who are identified in the contact-tracing process. Please monitoryour Penn State email for testing notifications.Please practice good self-care and complete the COVID-19 symptom checker on a daily basis. If you are experiencingsymptoms of COVID-19 DO NOT attend in person class or complete clinical or practicum hours. Please notify yourinstructor immediately. If you are quarantined due to symptoms, a positive test, or exposure, you MAY be able to attendclass remotely. Once you know you need to be quarantined, you should contact your instructors and your academicadviser. Please follow the guidance at en-if-when-students-testpositive.
