InstallationPre-Installation PlanningBefore your sunbed is installed, you should observe the following considerations.DANGERShock hazard.Disconnect power beforeservicing. The SS755 requires a dedicated circuitcapable of providing either 49 Amp, 3phase service (3 wire plus ground) or85A, 1-phase service (2 wire plusground) at 220VAC. This unit must behardwired directly to a junction boxon a dedicated circuit. We recommend connection by a professionalelectrician. Consult local and/ornational codes for proper circuitbreaker and wire gauge. The subwoofer in the bench requires astandard 110VAC outlet near the backof the unit.1Always wear protective eyewearwhen unit is on.Failure to may result in severe burnsor longterm injury to the eyes.CAUTIONUse of a voltage source above 230VAC (with unit running) may preventproper operation of the sunbed andcould cause damage and void thewarranty.CAUTIONAir from the room is used to coolthe sunbed. Maximum ambientroom temperature should be 80 F.Place your sunbed no closer than6” from side walls. May be positioned against back wall. Make surenothing obstructs the airflow into orout of the fan openings. A poorlyventilated room may cause the unitto become hot and cause discomfort to the user.26732-01A IMPORTANT! SetupStereo InstallationThe SS755 accepts an input from a stereosource. The unit contains speakers insidethe Shoulder Tanner, a subwoofer in thebench and an integrated amplifier in thebench ballast drawer. Volume control isconveniently located on the timer keypad(see Using Your Sunbed).26732-01ALocate the small, black box tethered to theback of the unit with cables (see right). Thereare three sets of inputs, RJ-22 remote ports(explained on the next page), speaker levelinput spring connectors and line level RCAinput jacks. Connect the output from astereo source (receiver, CD player, “boombox”, etc.) to either of the last two inputs.Whenever possible, use the RCA input jacksas this will eliminate problems with volume.SPEAKER LEVEL INPUTSRCA INPUTJACKSdefaults. Music may play continuouslythrough the sunbed during the day. Thesunbed controls only the volume, so if thesource is a CD player (or tape, etc.) youmust control the music at the source unit.To adjust the subwoofer output, remove theFront Access Panel (see Inside the Bench)and reach inside the hole on the left of thebench to access the subwoofer. There is apower button, phase button, cut-off controland level control (see below). Consult thesubwoofer’s user guide for more information. Adjust the level to achieve the bassresponse desired.Once a source is connected, apply power tothe sunbed (do not turn the sunbed on). Ifusing the RCA jacks, setup is complete. Ifusing the speaker terminals, adjust the volume on the source unit. Once a pleasantvolume level is reached, use only the timerPOWERkeypad to adjust it in the future. Two defaultvolume levels, one lower level for when theunit is idle and a slightly higher level whenthe unit is turned on, keep the music audible yet not too loud for other tanners. SeeSetting Operating Parameters to change thePHASECUT-OFFLEVEL6

Setup - Remote ConnectionsRemote ConnectionsRJ-22 REMOTE PORTSYour sunbed incorporates advanced circuitry allowing it to connect and communicate with most remote control systems. If a remote system is to be used, first determine whether the remote system is a T-Max System or a standardremote system operating with a controlrelay. Follow the appropriate instructionson the next few pages for your systemtype. The RJ-22 Remote Ports on the tetheredbox (see right) allow connection to theremote system. Both remote ports areidentical, allowing connection of multiple units in a “daisy chain” configuration. A Remote Control Bypass plug isalready installed in one of the remoteports to bypass the remote functionality, otherwise known as “stand-alone” operation. Your sunbed will not operate withoutthe Remote Control Bypass plug or aremote system connected.CAUTIONThe remote connection is not designed to supplyor accept high voltage, nor can it provide powerto an external timer. The sunbed’s remote interface circuitry operates on 5 volts, attempting toconnect it to any higher voltages will damage thesunbed as well as void your warranty.26732-01A7

Setup - Remote Connections26732-01AT-Max ProductsThe T-Max remote systems offer the ultimate in sunbed control, while allowingthe tanner easy, straightforward operation.Your sunbed is configured to directly connect to this system. The circuitry insideyour sunbed eliminates the need for the TMax 1A or 3A when connecting to the TMax Manager series. Your sunbed supports the auto addressing feature of the latest T-Max Manager models and manyparameters. See Setting OperatingParameters and your T-Max manual fordescriptions of these parameters and howthey function.T-Max Manager Remote SystemThis system is ideal for multiple sunbedinstallations. Simply connect the RJ-22modular cable(s), described in the TMax Manager manual, into the remoteport(s) located on the tetheredinput box and follow the instructions that came with your remotesystem, noting figure 1. If you havean older T-Max Manager thatdoes not support auto addressing, set the address of each sunbedmanually as described on the nextpage. You can place your sunbedat any location in the series.Auto Addressing with T-Max Your T-Max Manager manual willexplain how to get into auto addressmode. Once auto address has been activated, the bed display will show “Autoaddress active press start key to address.”Wait 10 seconds for the system to communicate properly and press the STARTbutton. The display will indicate “waitingfor address” and return to the welcomescreen when it has accepted the address.Go straight to the source with all your TMax brand remote questions:(417) 338-5101NOTE: A T-Max 1Acan be substituted forthe 3A in figure 1.figure 18

Setup - Remote ConnectionsT-Max 1A and 3A Remote SystemsIn single sunbed installations, the T-Max 1A and 3A can offer the same control asthe T-Max Manager, eliminating theneed for a Manager. If you’re using a 1A inthis manner, it must have a chip labelled“master” installed on its circuit board. The3A may be used as a “master” with nomodification. After you have set the T-Max 1A’s, or3A’s, address to “0” (refer to your T-Max user’s guide) and the sunbed’s address to“1” (see right), simply connect the RJ-22modular cables, described in the T-Max user’s guide, directly into either port in thetethered box and either port on the back ofthe T-Max 1A or 3A. See figure 2.figure 29Setting the address (parameter 1)1. Press and hold the STOP button, located on the sunbed display, until the display enters the “settings” mode(approximately five seconds) andrelease. The screen will display #7TOTAL BED HOURS. Press the FaceTanner down button until the screendisplays #1 BED ADDRESS. The number to the right is the address, whichmay be anything from 1 to 128.Numbers 252 through 255 arereserved for other functions andshould not be used as an address.2. If you are using a T-Max 1A or 3A asa “master” remote, the address of thesunbed must be set to “1”. If you areusing a T-Max Manager each sunbedmust be assigned a different address.Using the Body Fan Control up anddown buttons, set the value to theappropriate address number.3. Press the stop button to return to thenormal display mode.26732-01ANOTE: A T-Max 1Awith a “master” chipcan be substituted fora 3A in figure 2.Setting the address manuallyBefore connecting your sunbed to the TMax Manager or T-Max 1A or 3A, theaddress of your sunbed must first be set.Set the “id” manually as described below.

Setup - Remote ConnectionsRemote systems using a Control RelayMost non-T-Max remote systems controlthe sunbed by the use of a relay. The relayoperates the sunbed by connecting anddisconnecting a pair of wires leading fromthe sunbed. Refer to the user’s manualprovided with your remote system todetermine if it operates in this way. Toconnect your sunbed to this type of system a remote interface kit is required.Contact your place of purchase to obtainthe kit. Figure 3 details a typical connection. Follow the instructions providedwith the kit and from the remote’s manualto make the necessary connections.CAUTIONfigure 326732-01AThe remote connection is not designed to supplyor accept high voltage, nor can it provide powerto an external timer. The sunbed’s remote interface circuitry operates on 5 volts, attempting toconnect it to any higher voltages will damage thesunbed as well as void your warranty.10

Care and MaintenanceCleaning After UseClean and disinfect your tanning bed’sbench and canopy after each use. Use anon-abrasive disinfectant cleaner that doesnot contain ammonia or ammonia derivatives. Ammonia may damage the acrylicshield. Spray the acrylic lightly with disinfectant and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth. We recommend SunQuest disinfectantand SunQuest acrylic cleaner.Thorough Periodic CleaningIntroductionThe cooling fans draw air through the bedand over time will cause a dust buildup onthe lamps and reflectors. This will reducethe tanning effectiveness of the bed. Whena dust buildup is observed, it is necessary tothoroughly clean the inside of the benchand canopy.WARNINGShock hazard.Disconnect power before removingany protective covers.11Mechanical InspectionYour tanning bed has been built for years ofservice. To ensure trouble-free operationthroughout its life, inspect the unit’smechanical integrity every 400-500 hoursof use. Inspect the unit’s fasteners verifying thatall are firmly in place. Inspect lift adjustment. Adjust for proper liftif needed. See Inside the Bench. Inspect all power cords and connections. Inspect the acrylics. Broken, cracked orbadly scratched acrylics should beimmediately replaced. Check damper operation. The damperlimits the canopy’s movement speed.Replace if canopy raises and lowers tooquickly.26732-01A Open the acrylic shields and removelamps as described in Lamp and AcrylicReplacement. With a soft cloth, wipe the entire length ofeach lamp to remove any film buildup. Clean both sides of the acrylic shieldswith a non-ammonia disinfectant cleaner. Wipe the reflectors with a clean dampcloth. Reinstall the lamps and acrylic shields. Replace air filters inside each bench endcap. Replace with a 12” x 18” x 1” furnace filter.
