Greetings,My name is Tim Baisden and I am the CTAE Director for PickensCounty Schools. I am excited to provide this course offering guide as aresource to explain in detail what programs will be offered to 9th gradersfor the 2016-2017 school year. Students have the opportunity to choosefrom numerous career pathways offered through our CTAE Department. Inour labs, students are given the opportunity to participate in hands-onlearning and real-world applications. Currently, we are offering pathways in9 of the 17 career clusters currently recognized by the GeorgiaDepartment of Education. These career clusters are modeled after theNational Career Cluster Framework. At PHS, we believe that choosing and completing a career pathwayis extremely important. To complete a pathway, students must take threesequential classes within that program area. As a pathway completer, students will have the opportunity to earn industry recognized credentialsthat can give them competitive advantage when entering a post-secondaryeducational institution and/or the workforce.Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are cocurricular organizations with leadership programs and competitive eventsthat directly align with each program area that we offer at PHS. CTSOsplay an integral role in preparing students to become college and careerready members of society who hold productive leadership roles in theircommunities.Identifying an area of study that interests the student is key to usproviding a meaningful learning experience. CTAE has offerings thatappeal to all students, regardless of what their plans include after highschool graduation. It is my hope that by using this guide and otherreference materials, you are given the tools necessary to make informeddecisions. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any furtherquestions that you may have about our CTAE programs. My contactinformation can be found on the back page of this guide.Sincerely,Tim Baisden, Ed. S.
