They can teach anythingthey want, how they want, create any ranking structure they want,even have their own organization or not.While this is wonderfully freeing for a teacher it is also veryconfusing to many students who see a BlackBelt with solid skillsfrom one teacher and then see a 4th dan BlackBelt with no skilllevel from another. Even though they train in the same art studentsmost often have not been taught the same information, nor arethey required to be, the Bujinkan system is so loose that there areeven disrespectful Shihan that fly around the country just rankingother peoples students whom they have only met for a day or so tomuch higher ranks than their own teacher has graded them. Thisoften causes these students to leave their current teacher for thenew one.Good people are tricked into momentarily believing that rank ismore important than knowledge as they think they can get theknowledge later. But without a standard study system this willnever happen and these students end up being left without theguidance they truly need.
