Saturday’s game is the Bulldogs’ second of the season after the team’sscheduled home opener on Sept. 1 was cancelled due to inclementweather. In its last outing, Drake fell at No. 14 Montana, 48-16. Despite the finalmargin, the Bulldogs were within a touchdown of the vaunted Grizzlieslate in the third quarter. Missouri S&T, a NCAA Division II program and member of the GreatLakes Valley Conference, is 2-0 this season with wins over Eastern NewMexico and Northwood. Fifth-year senior Grant Kraemer is set to begin his third season undercenter and has his top three receivers returning from last year. Kraemerled the PFL with 261.6 yards passing per game and tossed 20 touchdownpasses. Kraemer became the second Bulldog since 1986 to throw 20 ormore touchdowns in back-to-back seasons as the tallied 23 in 2016 and20 last season. He opened his senior season by throwning for 281 yardsat Montana. Kraemer’s top three targets, Steven Doran, Mitch McFarlane and DevinCates combined for more than 60 percent of the Bulldogs’ receiving yardsand over 50 percent of the team’s receptions last season. Cates’ was theBulldogs’ top target at Montana, collecting nine receptions for 80 yards. Drake’s defense is highlighted by preseason all-PFL selections NathanClayberg and Sean Lynch. Clayberg recorded 44 tackles with five tacklesfor a loss and 2.5 sacks last season. Lynch led Drake last year with 72tackles and helped the defensive unit lead the PFL in pass defense with199.7 passing yards per game. Missouri S&T’s offense is led by quarterback Tyler Swart who has completed 70 percent of his passes for 489 total yards in two games. In this season’s first game, he caught fourpasses for 64 yards with a long of 27 yards. This week’s game will be the 1,155th in 125years of football for the school, dating back to theinitial campaign in 1893.
